CBO Spotlight: Where there is hunger, Give Food Solutions shows up. ❤️ Across Philippi, Gugulethu Macassar, Seawinds, Roosendal and Khayelitsha, Give Food Solutions is working to make sure that people in their communities have access to a warm, nourishing meal. Three days a week, their team prepares cooked meals for children and adults, including those who are bedridden and unable to care for themselves. Their support doesn’t stop at food. Through their After-School Programme, they also help children with their homework, creating a space where young people can learn, grow and feel supported. Led by Noludwe Kondlo, Give Food Solutions brings commitment, dedication and compassion to the communities they serve. With rescued food from SA Harvest helping to make these meals possible, food that could have gone to waste is transformed into nourishment, care and hope. Because sometimes, changing a life starts with something as simple as making sure there is food on the table. ❤️

Team Spotlight: Nomsa Nombiba

Meet Nomsa Nombiba - part of our Beneficiary Liaison team and the heartbeat of our Durban operations. Driven, inspiring, and cheerful, she leads with empathy and action.

From operating the forklift and sorting food in the warehouse to cooking alongside beneficiaries and coordinating drop‑offs, Nomsa is involved in every part of our operations. She ensures rescued food reaches the right hands and that our beneficiaries uphold their promise to feed communities with care and integrity.

Her leadership is grounded in empathy - she doesn’t just coordinate, she participates. Nomsa’s relationships with beneficiaries go beyond logistics; she listens, supports, and celebrates their progress.

Balancing the demands of a male‑dominated warehouse environment with being a devoted mom to a small baby and a loving wife, Nomsa shows that compassion and resilience can coexist. Her laughter fills the warehouse, her energy lifts the team, and her dedication reminds us that impact isn’t just measured in meals delivered, but in the care behind each one.

CBO Spotlight: A Bucket of Hope in Malmesbury 💛 On Saturday, 15th August, the SA Harvest yellow truck rolled into Malmesbury, bringing more than food. It brought a reminder that this community matters. At Carney’s Educare, in collaboration with SmartStart, 52 mothers, grandmothers and caregivers arrived with their babies and grandchildren, to receive Start Strong Buckets made possible by compassionate sponsors who chose to make a difference through the Mandela Day campaign. The atmosphere was one of joy, disbelief and deep gratitude. For many families, these buckets meant more than ingredients. They meant nutritious meals, support and a little breathing room. And there was more. SA Harvest surprised the community with rescued surplus doughnuts and crates overflowing with juicy guavas. By the end of the day, it felt like the whole community had something to take home. The yellow truck became more than a delivery vehicle. It became a symbol of hope, abundance and the power of people coming together. Because when good food is rescued and moved with purpose, it can do more than fill a plate. It can help a child Start Strong. 💛

CBO Spotlight: Cheerful Givers, is living proof that kindness can become action. ❤️ For this community organisation, caring for others means making sure no one has to face hunger alone, especially children and the elderly. Through rescued food ingredients from SA Harvest, Cheerful Givers prepares nourishing meals and provides support to those who need it most. They also prepare meals specifically for elderly members of their community, turning rescued food into something much bigger: nourishment, connection and dignity. Their purpose is simple but powerful: to offer help, foster positive change and build a more compassionate community. Because when food is rescued, it doesn’t just fill a plate. It can restore hope, bring people together and remind someone that their community cares. 🌱

Some people make every celebration a little more special, and Alice from Omosa is one of those people. 🎂 A familiar face in our office, Alice never misses a birthday. From baking cakes to helping our team feel celebrated, she’s always finding ways to bring a little joy to others. So this time, we turned the tables and baked a cake for her, using ingredients that were donated to support our work. CBO SPOTLIGHT : ABAPHUMELELI

Every young person deserves the chance to become everything they have the potential to be. In Khayelitsha, Abaphumeleli Non-Profit Organisation is creating that chance for vulnerable young people who have faced circumstances no child should have to face. Since 2003, Abaphumeleli has provided a safe and caring home where young people can access food, education, shelter, support and the opportunity to build a future. But their work is about more than meeting basic needs. It’s about looking at a young person and seeing potential where others may only see hardship. Through life skills, education and practical skills development, Abaphumeleli helps young people believe in themselves, discover their strengths and take steps towards independence. Because sometimes, changing a life begins with something as simple as giving someone a safe place to belong, a nourishing meal, and the belief that they can become something more. We’re proud to support Abaphumeleli as they continue to nurture potential, restore dignity and help young people build brighter futures. 🌱 📍 Ilitha Park, Khayelitsha.
