A rural municipality with 128,565 people.
Youth-heavy and strong agricultural potential. This is a landscape where wellbeing, skills and opportunity can shift futures.

This snapshot of our pilot programme’s focus, the NDZ Local Municipality, seeks to remind us that we can activate potential in places where brilliance is present but under-resourced.

We do what we do to unlock growth, strengthen community wellbeing, and support long-term rural development.

What has been interesting to witness, is the number of women working on the ground in societal development. This is the gritty work; these women are the first responders when societal breakdowns occur, they are the ones who create a plan of action. Women leadership is at times mistaken for fragility, meekness and emotional reactivity, our exposure has demonstrated time and time again how women’s leadership is transformative, creative and courageous.

Here’s to honouring the Women’s March of 1956 and celebrating women in Rural Development who carry the same fight and grit. Wathinta abafazi wathinta imbokodo ✊🏽

What a privilege it was to begin this work - within community. From our partners Vukuzithathe Community Health and Welfare Development Organisation, to the Principal and teachers of Broteni Primary School and the energetic and engaged learners, it was a success. We are grateful of these beginnings, as we’re expectant of measurable impact to follow, through communal effort.

Thank you FNB for putting gas into the flame through the volunteers programme - from those initiatives our Chairperson registered the NPC to do this very important work 🙌🏽

How does one build a prosperous and sustainable life without a resilient heart and mind? This is the gap we fill - alongside our other key support pillars.

We focus on school learners, teachers & parents and the surrounding community - because building resilience in the learner will go further when the community is also empowered to be resilient.

Today we mark World Rural Development Day by recognising a simple truth: resilient rural communities build resilient societies.

Here’s to an intentional World Rural Development Day!

According to International Fund for Agricultural Development: “Investing in rural people means financing the foundations of more resilient societies. When rural areas have the resources they need, communities are better able to withstand shocks, young people have greater reason to build their futures at home, and producers can contribute more fully to local, national and global markets.” - https://www.ifad.org/en/w/events/world-rural-development-day-2026
