Today we are reminded of Africa Day commemorated on Saturday the 25th of May 2024 under the theme “Educate an African Fit for the 21st Century: Building Resilient Education Systems for Increased Access to Inclusive, Lifelong, Quality, and Relevant Learning in Africa.”
It is under this theme that we are motivating for efforts to inspire and unite individuals, organisations, and communities to join us in achieving this essential mission through the meaningful act of adopting a school by visiting https://www.adoptaschool.org.za/get-involved/school/ .
Together we can work together to support the delivery of an enhanced and conducive teaching and learning environment that can be replicated in disadvantaged schools!

One of the keys to our 22 years of success is the implementation of a holistic model in disadvantaged schools throughout South Africa. With the support of our partners, we can create long-term, sustainable, and governable schools through the Whole School Development model.

Is your organisation passionate and committed to education? We can work together to bridge many school gaps. It takes a nation to educate a child. Visit https://www.adoptaschool.org.za/get-involved/school/ to adopt a school.

Last Friday, we were thrilled to launch a 12-month Health, Sanitation and Sexuality Education Programme at Modilati Secondary School in Hammanskraal in partnership with ICBC Standard Bank PLC. The Programme provides a conducive environment to educate and empower teenagers in schools to make informed decisions about sexuality matters to curb teenage pregnancy. The launch focused on grades 8 and 9 as well as their parents, and featured motivation and mentoring by Julius Juju Kgole (the actor known as Dragon from the Skeem Saam telenovela). The Programme was warmly received by the school and learners expressed excitement about the new journey. Thank you ICBC Standard Bank PLC for investing in Modilati Secondary School.

On Saturday we had the pleasure of hosting Lot Phalatse Primary School for our School Leadership Advancement Programme funded by Sasria SOC Ltd.
The session promoted collaboration and productivity as the School’s Action Plan was formed and a Teambuilding session was held for school staff and the newly elected SGB members.
Through shared ideas and experiences, the programme helped attendees to develop a common understanding of the school's vision, mission and strategic goals.

Adopt-a-school stakeholder general experience

Adopt-a-school foundation is a non-profit organisation founded in 2002 to help children in underprivileged schools.

On the 20th March, Adopt a school foundation hosted a moral regeneration camp at Rustenburg kloof. The purpose of the camp was to equip learners with leadership skills so that they are able to take ownership in creating healthy learning environments which are free of violence, bullying and vandalism.

I’m the day of the event one of the stakeholders briefed the learners about their rights and were also given information on how to report abuse and bullying and also educated on how to refrain from bullying, vandalism and other illegal activities.

From the teachers
They have been having many problems with some of the learrners behaviour and such an event was needed to educate the learners and to alter their behaviour. They are happy about the event and hope to see an improvement in the learners behaviour.

From the learners
Some learners have been victims of the abuse and bad behaviour of other learners and they are glad such an event was held and they hope to see a change in the learners who misbehave.

Overall the event was great, food and drinks were served and networking opportunities were provided.
