When Owami first arrived at the shelter, she was frightened, unsure and carrying the painful signs of a very difficult past. She kept her distance, her body tense, her eyes searching for safety in a world that hadn’t always been kind to her.
One of the most visible reminders of what she’s been through is the long scar along her side - a story she cannot tell us, but one we will never ignore. From the moment she arrived, the Sandton SPCA Clinic team stepped in with compassion and urgency. Her wounds were carefully cleaned, treated and monitored, and she was given the medical care she so desperately needed. But it didn’t stop there - she was given warmth, gentle handling, proper nutrition, and a quiet space to begin healing in her own time.
The clinic doesn’t just treat injuries - they rebuild broken spirits. Every animal like Owami receives dedicated attention, from pain management and follow-up care to the simple but powerful act of kindness: soft voices, patient hands, and the reassurance that they are finally safe.
With time, care, and so much patience, Owami has slowly begun to trust again. She now enjoys her meals, rests more peacefully, and is starting to show her gentle, affectionate nature. There’s a quiet bravery about her - a resilience that shines through despite everything she has endured.
Owami is safe now. She is cared for, protected, and surrounded by people who want nothing more than to see her thrive. But what she truly longs for… is a forever home.
A place where she can finally feel secure.
A family who will look beyond her scars and see her strength.
A home where she will only ever know love.
Owami’s journey is a testament to the incredible work of the Sandton SPCA Clinic but stories like hers are only possible through your ongoing support. 💛
