Our Youth Chairperson, Naa'illah Botha, steped up as a guest speaker at a women's event hosted by Saldanha Youth C
afe. Real stories were shared combined with big laughs and powerful moments of growth. The energy was electric. Thank you to everyone who listened, nodded and connected.
Our Chairperson & Founder, Wiedaad David's, also attended the event as a guest! We left the event with full hearts and so much hope for what we can build together.

What do the Koeberg incidents reveal about South Africaโ€™s nuclear governance? โ˜ข๏ธ

Four safety-related incidents occurred at Koeberg Unit 2 between 30 June and 16 July, including ventilation failures, airborne contamination alarms and radiation monitoring alerts.

Yet the public received a detailed explanation only after media questions and reports emerged.

While authorities say there was no external radioactive release or danger to the public, the bigger questions remain:

๐Ÿ”Ž Is nuclear oversight genuinely independent?
๐Ÿ”Ž Why was Unit 2 granted a 20-year licence extension amid outstanding safety and maintenance concerns?

๐Ÿ”Ž What does this mean for plans to expand nuclear power in South Africa?

Transparency is not just about reassurance. It means timely disclosure, independent oversight, clear information and accountability.

That water comes from our precious aquifers. The same aquifers that supply Onse Weskus with fresh water.
One chemical spill on our sandy soil and it could poison our groundwater for decades. This is not just about ruining the view. This could destroy our water supply and wreck the entire West Coast area.
We need to wake up before it is too late. This is our water, our land, and our future.

We voiced our opposition to industrial agriculture, factory animal husbandry, nuclear energy, uranium mining, gas, oil, and other detrimental "solutions" that endanger our livelihoods, communities, and climate on this Earth Day by marching to parliament to hand over a memorandum!
