As part of our Youth Entrepreneurship Programme, the Foundation has secured farming land and identified four unemployed young people living with disabilities who will begin cultivating a vegetable garden in Moruleng.

The initiative aims to create sustainable income-generating opportunities for youth living with disabilities while contributing to food security, economic empowerment, and local community development. Through this partnership, the Foundation will also support the young farmers by facilitating access to markets once their produce is ready for harvesting.

This programme demonstrates the power of inclusive partnerships in creating meaningful economic opportunities, promoting self-reliance, and building more resilient and inclusive communities.

As we commemorate Mandela Day, we reaffirm our collective responsibility to advance the vision of a just, inclusive, and prosperous society that Nelson Mandela so passionately championed. His enduring legacy calls on us to move beyond words and take meaningful action to address the challenges of unemployment, particularly among our youth.

By investing in youth development, fostering entrepreneurship, empowering women, and creating equitable opportunities for persons with disabilities, we unlock the talent, innovation, and resilience that will shape our nation's future.

Let this Mandela Day inspire us to work together to build a society where every person has the opportunity to realise their full potential, ensuring that Madiba's dream of dignity, equality, and shared prosperity lives on for generations to come.

The Mogapi Mogapaesi Foundation recently hosted a 5-days capacity-building workshop for School Governing Body (SGB) members from Quintile 1–3 schools in Moses Kotane and Thabazimbi Local Municipalities with it's strategic partner, Siyanda Bakgatla Platinum Mine.

The workshop focused on Emotional Intelligence, Governance, and Financial Planning & Management. A key finding was that nearly 90% of SGB members do not have post-school qualifications, yet they are entrusted with critical leadership and financial responsibilities. Many Chairpersons lack formal leadership skills, and Treasurers often have no financial background.

Encouragingly, participants openly acknowledged these gaps and expressed the need for structured support. We strongly recommend the development of compulsory, standardized training for all SGB members to strengthen leadership, governance, and financial accountability in our schools.
