From personal alarms and first-aid kits to other self-defense tools, there will be a variety of items available for purchase on the day.

And because having a tool is only part of staying safe, i-LEAD Self Defense NPO 218-034 will also provide guidance on when and how to use these products responsibly and effectively. 💪🏽

Self-defense is about so much more than knowing how to protect yourself physically. It teaches children to believe in themselves, set boundaries, speak up, stay aware and respond with confidence. 💪🏾
When it comes to bullying, we want our children to know that their voice matters, their boundaries matter, and they deserve to feel safe. ❤️

Teaching a child self-defense isn’t teaching them to fight, it’s teaching them to be prepared, confident and empowered.
Let’s raise children who know how to say NO, walk away from unsafe situations, ask for help and rise above bullying. ✊🏾

Here’s your reminder of what to bring to the Rise Above Self-Defense Class:
👕 Gym attire
💧 A bottle of water
🧘🏽‍♀️ A gym mat
💵 Cash (optional) if you’d like to purchase self-defense tools such as pepper spray.
You’re also welcome to bring a friend, just make sure they’re registered too! 🙌🏽

I’ve experienced hurtful comments and even seen false rumours about me spread online. It reminded me that words typed behind a screen can hurt just as much as words spoken face-to-face.

That’s why this conversation means so much to me. As young people, let’s choose kindness over cruelty and encouragement over judgement.
Before you type, ask yourself:
Would I say this if they were standing in front of me? 🩷

Choose kindness. Choose empathy. Choose to Rise Above.
