The Burry Stander MTB series has been developed to honour this MTB sporting icon and gentleman who was so tragically killed in a road accident while he was cycling earlier this year. Community Sports & Recreation have been granted the rights by the Burry Stander Foundation to run this series to increase awareness of road safety for cyclists and to raise funding for the foundation and its aims. The

inaugural Burry Stander MTB Series kicked off at Nokeng Eco Lodge on 11 May 2013 with fantastic feedback from riders, race organisers and Cycling SA - no mean feat! With the next race being held on 7 September 2013, there are challenges and fun for all levels of riders. Beautiful unspoiled bushved in areas never before open to the public, riding through game reserves with glimpses of a wide variety of wildlife including rare white lions at Mystic Monkeys & Feathers Wildlife Park (safely behind a double electrified fence though!), heart-stopping technical downhills and fast flat sections - there truly is something for everyone. And did we mention that this is all happening a mere 1 hour north of Johannesburg and Pretoria? It just doen't get any better than this!
