Update on Nico’s Fight Against Ewing’s Sarcoma
Nico’s latest prognosis from his doctor at Bara is not good. He has been given a 20% chance that chemotherapy will work, and the treatment itself would be extremely harsh on his already weakened body. The family was given the choice to proceed with conventional chemotherapy but decided against it.
Instead, they have chosen an alternative approach called Insulin Potentiation Therapy (IPT). This is a milder form of chemotherapy with fewer severe side effects and less impact on his immune system. While the prognosis remains the same, this treatment aims to improve his quality of life.
Nico will start his first round of treatment tomorrow. It’s an eight-week programme, with four-day cycles each week—two days of chemotherapy and two days of supportive therapy. The family will assess its effectiveness over time and decide on the next steps.
Now, more than ever, the family needs support, and the BackaBuddy campaign is running to help them through this challenging time. Any contributions would be deeply appreciated.
