CAPE TOWN’S CAPED CRUSADER IS CHALLENGING US ALL TO BECOME HEROES

🦸‍♂️ Somewhere between False Bay and Wynberg, a mysterious figure in a black cape and mask has been quietly tackling one of Cape Town’s most visible problems: litter. 🗑️🌍

He calls himself the Templar of the Cape, and he reportedly collected more than 40 bags of rubbish during his first nine weeks. His unusual outfit may attract attention, but the message behind it is wonderfully simple: if something in your community bothers you, do something positive about it. 💪🇿🇦

Most of us have complained about rubbish, neglected public spaces or people who simply do not care. This Capetonian chose a different response. He put on a costume, picked up a bag and got to work. 🧹✨

Now he is challenging others to join him. The first Cleaners of the Cape community clean-up is planned for 9 August, with final details expected on his social-media pages.

Perhaps that is the real story. We do not need superhuman strength, secret gadgets or the ability to fly to become heroes. 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️ We simply need to notice something that needs doing and be willing to begin.

So, what needs changing in your street, neighbourhood or community? And what small part could you play?

🚨 Quick Response. Positive Outcome. 🚨

Our Armed Response team acted swiftly following a report of a woman being forced into a vehicle in Technopark on Thursday, 30 July 2026.

After receiving the emergency call, our Control Room immediately dispatched response officers to the area. Within minutes, one of our patrol officers located the suspect vehicle on Elektron Street and safely intervened.

The victim was able to remove herself from the vehicle and seek safety behind our response officers. SAPS was immediately called to the scene, where the suspect was arrested. A case of assault has since been opened.

👏 A big thank you to our vigilant Control Room team, the employee who reported the incident without delay, and our dedicated response officers for their professionalism, rapid action, and commitment to protecting our community.

Every second counts in an emergency, and this incident is a reminder that speaking up and acting quickly can make all the difference.
