Behind every programme, visit and family supported is preparation most people never see.

Files are prepared.
Records are kept.
Information is documented.
Follow-ups are made.
And somewhere, someone is probably looking for that one piece of paper that was definitely here five minutes ago. 😂

It may not be the glamorous side of welfare work, but good administration helps ensure that the important work doesn’t fall through the cracks.

Because caring for people also means taking care of the details. 💜

Op koue, reënerige dae is dit soms juis die eenvoudigste dinge wat kinders die langste onthou:
☕ Warm sjokolade en ’n kombers
📖 ’n Storie saamlees
🎨 Teken of inkleur by die kombuistafel
🍿 ’n Fliek en springmielies
🎲 ’n Bordspeletjie — met dalk so ’n klein bietjie gesonde kul 😉
💬 Of sommer net saam sit en gesels
Kinders vergeet dalk wat ons vir hulle gekoop het, maar hulle onthou hoe dit gevoel het om tuis te wees.
As julle dus vandag lekker binnenshuis wegkruip vir die koue en reën, moenie bekommerd wees om die dag buitengewoon te maak nie.
Maak dit warm.
Maak dit veilig.
Maak dit sáám. 💜

NGW is more than an office. It is people, families and communities.

Behind the paperwork, statistics and reports are real people and real stories. Our work takes us into the community, where we support children and families, share knowledge, create awareness and help strengthen the networks around those who need them.

Sometimes it looks like a programme. Sometimes it is practical support. Sometimes it is information, guidance or simply being present.

Because stronger children need stronger families — and stronger families build stronger communities.

This is a little glimpse of NGW Roodepoort at work. 💜

💜 NG Welsyn Parenting Nugget

Connect before you correct.

When a child is overwhelmed, angry or upset, their behaviour may be telling us something they don’t yet know how to put into words.

Before correcting the behaviour, try connecting with the child:

💜 “I can see you’re upset.”
💜 “I’m here. Let’s calm down together.”
💜 “When you’re ready, we can talk about what happened.”

Connection doesn’t mean ignoring inappropriate behaviour or removing boundaries. It means helping a child feel safe enough to listen, learn and try again.

Sometimes the child who is struggling the most needs connection the most.
