🇿🇦 Different stories. Shared country. One community.
24 September has an interesting history.
The date was once commemorated as Shaka Day, honouring King Shaka. In our democratic South Africa, it became Heritage Day; a day for all South Africans to celebrate the traditions, languages, food, stories and customs that make us who we are .

Some where along the way, it also became affectionately known as Braai Day, perhaps because few things bring South Africans together quite like gathering around a fire, sharing food and telling stories.
But
This year’s Heritage Day theme, “Strengthening the Ties That Bind Us,” feels especially fitting.

Our heritage may be different, but community is created when we come together, listen to one another, share what we have and make room around the table.
That is something we understand well in Lions

HAPPY HERITAGE DAY from Helderkruin Lions Club 🦁🍊

Today Helderkruin Lions Club attended Krugersdorp Lions Club annual “LEEULOOP “( formerly known as the warrior walk) 5 kilometres fun walk.

Due to the adverse weather the walk did not take place however this not deter the attending Clubs and their members, we had lovely pancakes from Weltevreden Lions Club and coffee from Clearwater Cyber Lions Club on hand, as well as cup cakes on sale in aid of a CHOC .

We had a Dj , who played music that lifted the look of the gloomy weather outside !

Congratulations to Centurion Lions Club who won the trophy for the most participants from a Club attending the event.

There was raffle for a Braai and accessories to be won by a lucky winner!

We all had our individual braai packs which we shared in fellowship with one another.

Well done Krugersdorp Lions for a lovely day, even with the weather not conducive. 🦁🍊

Together we walk
Together we serve
Together we make a difference.
