We have been quiet on social media for a while and for good reason. Finally we can let the cat out the bag and we are so excited. Humbled and proud at the same time.

Since Covid, we have supported a man and his village... A village of 140 children. A village where members of the community come together for the children. Unemployed and displaced are fed and housed and in return, take care of and educate the children.

We are now officially a proud partner of Gospel Outreach Orphans Ministry.

With Pastor Jonathan's permission, we share some of the beautiful work these women do.

A BABY SAVER BOX IS NOT THE PROBLEM. A BABY LEFT IN DANGER IS.

We know that some people see Baby Saver Boxes as something negative. But before judging the box, please think about the baby.

A baby placed in a Baby Saver Box is alive, safe, warm and protected.
A baby left in a plastic bag, a rubbish bin, a field, a toilet, a roadside or somewhere else where nobody may find them… may not be. Baby Saver Boxes exist because desperate situations exist.

Not every mother who abandons a baby is cruel. Sometimes she is frightened. Sometimes she feels completely alone. Sometimes she believes she has no other option. Sometimes she is facing circumstances that she simply cannot cope with.

We would much rather see a mother make the heartbreaking decision to place her baby somewhere safe, where that child can immediately receive care, than have a newborn abandoned somewhere dangerous because she was too afraid to seek help.
The box does not create the crisis. The box responds to the crisis.

And no, we don't believe a Baby Saver Box is the answer to every unwanted pregnancy or every difficult situation. The answer must also include prevention, education, support for vulnerable mothers, access to social services, counselling, family support and safe alternatives.

But while those bigger issues are being addressed, we cannot ignore the baby who is already here.

If a Baby Saver Box means that one tiny life survives instead of being exposed to injury, hypothermia, starvation, abuse or death, then that box has served a purpose.
We will always choose a safe baby over an unsafe abandonment.

💛 Hello friends, and happy Monday!

Just one more sleep... 😄 Tomorrow it's back to school! 🎒✏️ I think the kids might actually be more excited than I am! 😅🙏

This year's Mandela Day looked a little different for us than it has over the past 10 years. 🤔 It got me thinking...

I can't help but wonder if it's because we no longer have tiny, squishy babies that instantly melt everyone's hearts. Our little ones have grown into big, happy, noisy, energetic, always-hungry, absolutely beautiful children. 9 of them!!! ❤️

But here's the thing... children don't stop needing care once they outgrow the baby stage. If anything, their needs become even greater.

As this mama continues the journey of giving them the very best I can, the financial reality can feel overwhelming. Rent has gone up. Utilities have gone up. Petrol, electricity, gas, and food prices have all increased.
And that's before we even get to school fees, stationery, and clothing! Last term's winter uniforms no longer fit, and did you know a new school winter jacket costs around R800? 😳

Even so, we were incredibly blessed this Mandela Day by two very generous donations.
