Over the past weeks the Jobs for Nature teams in Port Nolloth have been working across the community to tackle waste at the source. Illegal dumping sites, public spaces, schools, coastal areas and the Bird Park have all been cleared, with large amounts of household waste, building rubble and organic waste sorted and properly disposed of.
Recycling has been a big part of the work too. Plastic bottles are being collected and reused to create recycling bins and garden structures, while organic waste is being turned into compost and liquid fertiliser for local gardening initiatives. Earlier this month the teams also took part in a waste management training session, building on their skills in waste sorting, recycling.
Through these activities, the programme is not only improving environmental conditions but also contributing to a culture of recycling and responsible waste management in Port Nolloth. 🌍♻️
