With Father's Day coming up on Sunday, don't let you cat be a deadbeat Dad. Get Him Neutered ASAP!
By having dogs and cats sterilized, owners can prevent them from becoming deadbeat dads and single moms and, best of all, put a dent in the number of stray , unwanted animals landing up starving on the streets or suffering abuse and neglect.

🐾 **Brownie's Happy Update!** 🐾

Brownie came to us last year to be neutered. At the time, he was quite underweight and not in the best condition.

Today, we are thrilled to share that Brownie is doing wonderfully! He is now well cared for and has earned a reputation as the *class clown* on the farm where he lives with his loving owners, who are farm workers. ❤️

Nothing makes us happier than receiving positive updates like this. Stories like Brownie's remind us why sterilization and ongoing animal welfare support are so important.

We are also incredibly grateful for the strong relationships we have with farm managers who keep us informed about the animals in their communities. Their support plays a vital role in helping us identify pets in need of sterilization and veterinary care.

Together, we can achieve so much for the animals of the Langeberg. Thank you to everyone who helps make these success stories possible. 🐶🐾

🐾 A Little Love Goes a Long Way 🐾
During our weekly clinic, our Animal Welfare Assistant, Del Jones, took a quick break to share some love and attention with a few of the local dogs. Judging by the wagging tails and excited greetings, the feeling was definitely mutual! ❤️
While vaccinations, deworming and sterilizations are an important part of what we do, moments like these remind us that animals also need kindness, affection and positive human interaction.
For many dogs, a gentle touch, a kind word and a few minutes of attention can make all the difference.
Thank you, Del, for showing that animal welfare is about more than medical care – it's about compassion too. 🐶💕

Blackie's Happy Ending 🐾

Blackie came to us in May 2025 to be sterilized. She had recently raised a litter of puppies, was understandably nervous, and was a little underweight.

Fast forward a year, and what a transformation! Today, Blackie is healthy, confident, and thriving. Seeing dogs like her blossom reminds us why sterilization is so important.

Sterilization not only helps prevent unwanted litters, but it also offers significant health and behavioural benefits, giving pets the opportunity to live happier, healthier lives.

Blackie's story is proof that one simple procedure can make a world of difference.

Thank you to everyone who supports our sterilization programme and helps us create brighter futures for pets like Blackie. ❤️🐾

Youth Day: Inspiring the Next Generation of Animal Champions 🐾

At John Moore Animal Welfare, we believe that education is one of the most powerful tools for improving animal welfare.

Our interactive school talks teach children about:
🐶 Responsible pet ownership
🐱 Kindness and compassion towards animals
💉 The importance of sterilisation and veterinary care
🥣 Proper feeding and daily care of pets
🏡 Animal welfare and community responsibility

By educating young people today, we help create a future where every animal is treated with kindness, respect, and care.

📚 Schools, educators, and youth groups are welcome to book an educational animal welfare talk with our team.

Please email Michelle at [email protected] if you would like to arrange a visit to your school.

Together, we can inspire the next generation to be responsible and compassionate pet owners. ❤️🐾

**It Takes a Village ❤️**

Scruffles, whose owner is a farm worker on the Le Chasseur side of the river, was booked for sterilisation. With our main bridge between Robertson and McGregor still out of action due to last month's horrific floods, getting him to his appointment was no simple task!

First, he was given a lift to the bridge. From there, kind-hearted helpers lovingly carried him up and down the temporary stairs. He was then transported to Cornerstone Vet, where he was neutered, vaccinated, and dewormed.

That same afternoon, the journey was repeated in reverse. He was brought back to the bridge, carefully carried across once more, and transported safely home to his grateful owners.

This is what happens when a community comes together for the welfare of animals. Every person involved played a part in giving this dog a healthier, happier future.

**It truly takes a village. Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible.** 🐾❤️

🐾 Bullatjie’s Big Day! 🐾
Who remembers little Bullatjie, whose devoted owner pushed him all the way to our clinic in a pram to make sure he received the care he needed?
Well, Tuesday was Bullatjie's turn to be neutered! ❤️
He was a little unsure of what was happening at first, but it didn't take long for him to realise that everyone was there to help him. By the time Michelle fetched him early this morning, he had already won hearts by giving her plenty of face licks and showing what a sweet, brave little boy he is. 🥰
Bullatjie came through his procedure like a champion and is now one step closer to a healthier future.
Thank you to his caring owner for going above and beyond for this special little dog. Responsible pet ownership changes lives, and Bullatjie is proof of that. 🐶❤️

🐾⚖️ Animal Cruelty is a CRIME in South Africa ⚖️🐾

Animals are protected under the Animals Protection Act 71 of 1962, and cruelty towards animals is punishable by law. 🇿🇦

❌ It is illegal to:
• Abuse or beat an animal
• Starve or neglect an animal
• Deny animals food, water, shelter, or medical care
• Abandon animals
• Keep animals in cruel conditions
• Participate in animal fighting or cruelty of any kind

🐶🐱🐴🦜 The law applies to:
✔️ Dogs and cats
✔️ Farm animals
✔️ Birds and reptiles in captivity
✔️ Wildlife under human care or control

⚠️ If someone is found guilty, penalties can include:
🚨 Fines
🚨 Imprisonment
🚨 Animals being removed from the owner
🚨 Being declared unfit to own animals in future

Animals cannot speak for themselves — but YOU can. ❤️

If you witness cruelty, neglect, abuse, or abandonment, please report it to your local SPCA immediately. Every report could save a life. 🐾🙏

Together we can stand against cruelty and protect those who cannot protect themselves. 🐕🐈

🚨 ENOUGH IS ENOUGH: BACKYARD BREEDING MUST STOP 🚨
At John Moore Animal Welfare, we are overwhelmed by the number of unwanted, neglected and suffering animals that are the direct result of irresponsible breeding.
Let us be absolutely clear: we will not support backyard breeding in any form.
Breeding animals without the knowledge, facilities, financial resources and long-term commitment required is irresponsible and contributes directly to the animal welfare crisis we face every day. Shelters are full, rescues are overwhelmed, and countless puppies and kittens are born only to face neglect, abandonment, disease, injury or a life of hardship.
If you claim to love your pet, then be part of the solution — sterilise them. There is no shortage of dogs and cats needing loving homes. There is no justification for producing more animals while so many already suffer and die without families.
Responsible pet ownership includes: ✔️ Sterilisation
✔️ Vaccinations
✔️ Proper shelter, food and veterinary care
✔️ Identification and containment
✔️ A lifelong commitment to your pet
Backyard breeding is not a harmless way to make extra money. It comes at a devastating cost to the animals and to the community.
John Moore Animal Welfare will continue to advocate for compulsory sterilisation and responsible pet ownership. We make no apology for taking a firm stand on this issue. The welfare of animals must come first.
Sterilise. Educate. Adopt. Stop the cycle of suffering. 🐾💙
