An afternoon of making cheesecake was on our kitchen agenda today......
we only required three ingredients, and our team of three enthusiastically did a great job.

Aletta, was only too glad to help with the mixing 🌹 and matching her enthusiasm was Philippa who believed that it takes very little time to vigorously whip the yoghurt and condensed milk,πŸ₯°πŸ₯°
Angela, was the supervisor and brought all the ingredients for our sweet treat.

The cake tins lined and ready to freeze these mini cheesecake were doneπŸŽ‚πŸŽ‚πŸŽ‚πŸŽ‚πŸŽ‚πŸŽ‚ and all that was left was for both the ladies who appeared very excited to lick the bowl, looking at their faces it was a delicious treat for all to enjoy tomorrow.......

A celebration braai to share in the new home to commence over in Goa,India very soon.....

Shalom Care, will be our sister home and thank you to all our residents, staff and families, friends and volunteers who kept this home in πŸ™ prayer.

As the week came to a close, we transitioned smoothly to jazz exercises and vintage dancing to 60s 🎢 music on an unforgettable Friday.

Our ladies were in exceptionally high spirits, delivering outstanding performances in chair jazz exercises.

Dolf, with Trish's support, kept pace thanks to Trish's consistent encouragement of our family to stay active.

Philippa, although new to this, proved to be a skilled mover, showcasing impressive hip movements.

Alice, participated in chair exercises while cheering on the team, before Eveline served a delicious lunch.

Wishing everyone a happy weekend, may we inspire more dancing in the weeks to come.

A warm welcome this week to Philippa as she brought back fond memories of our late Nicoline, she is her oldest sister.

Philippa,is just as friendly and kept telling us stories of their family living in Swellendam, after they returned from Northern Rhodesia.

There's such a strong resemblance between them, only difference between the sisters says Philippa "my eyes are brown and Nicoline had blue eyes"......

What a sweet smile sooooooo much joy to think about those beautiful times they shared as children, adults, married women and now Philippa at the same home where her younger sister spent her last days.

Thank you πŸ’• to all of you for making it a special day and Rev Anthonie, for blessing us all with the gospel and worship today.

We also celebrated the birthday of one of our little friends πŸ’• a 7 yr old in Australia and these cupcakes πŸŽ‚ πŸŽ‚ πŸŽ‚ were a treat especially for us all.

God bless πŸ™ you Coco with love from us all at Petals careπŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯°

Extravaganza, was a word that contains so many little words was the outcome with our very own enthusiastic team players.....

Minds that are bilingual, is the essence of the journey with our family that lives with such togetherness that brings fun, laughter and much joy.

Dolf, who is very new to the game was so excited to read the words as they were being made.....and sitting forward in his chair is the ultimate gesture of how he was able to engage in his own way.

Beth, was amazing with such good word making ability that Alice, found it hard to keep up.... although Aletta came close to making a few which were a surprise to us all.

Cecelia, was having the best time with her words in Afrikaans that brought up our score to 80 words in total.

Well done πŸ’• πŸ’• to all our players, such a wonderful team effort over morning β˜• tea.......

Danny, took off to the local cafe with Fran to enjoy 😊 some time away....he drew a card and attached it to the table,as he didn't think he would need to pay for his meal.... however that doesn't happen in reality....Oh!...the joys of living with irregular thought process.

Contrary to the unseasonably cool July weather, our ladies demonstrated remarkable perseverance in their knitting endeavors, thereby affording our newest members an opportunity to acquire this skill.

Beth, was particularly enthusiastic about learning to knit under the expert guidance of Angela, all last week and she was eager to showcase her newfound abilities to Chad.

Meanwhile, Alice, who oversees the knitting group, ensured that all necessary materials, including needles, yarn, wool, and crochet hooks, were safely in her possession.

Nicoleen, who had never knitted before, was delighted to learn this new skill and we hope will continue to knit every day.

Johanna, an expert knitter who has been knitting since she was 16, displayed good technique with crochet and despite some forgetfulness, it is heartening to see that her dementia is not going to run away with her ability to knit.

Cynthia, also tried her hand at knitting as she's never knitted before and said "no one was helping me to learn".... with our Aletta, who is the only crochet expert in the group, but was very keen to knit with the ladies.

It's absolutely sensational to have our knitting club keep the joy of these memories alive and we hope to donate some of our finished items to the local children. πŸŽ¨πŸ§΅πŸ§ΆπŸŽπŸ‘πŸ’•

Today has been a remarkable Friday for everyone, as Eveline is on leave.

Although our kitchen was closed, we found a new dial-a-meal service in town thanks to our very own Lizell.

She provided us with a delicious braai featuring chicken cooked to perfection, a green tossed salad, and potato wedges.

Dolf's face showed clear satisfaction with his meal. Susanna seemed pleased with her larger plate, and Chrissie's expression was one of happiness.

Chad made our day even more special by bringing us a milk tart from Greyton, baked specifically for us.

We appreciate Lizell's efforts in providing a hot meal during the winter season.

Chad, thank you for bringing so much joy to our family ,we will miss you when you return home.

Wishing everyone a happy weekend.

Our art therapy session this week featured an experiment with Mandala designs from India, with our artists demonstrating their creativity through the use of various mediums, including pencils, pens, and crayons, to produce unique pieces.

Dolf, initially engrossed in a magazine, later incorporated color into his artwork with Mercy's support.

Aletta participated in the art therapy session despite feeling unwell.

Susanna chose to engage in her craft activity in the living room, preferring a familiar environment.

Alice remained in her favorite armchair, explaining that her creativity is inspired by music and natural light.

Well done all, your work is exceptional, and we can soon create a collage featuring these pieces.

Can we tempt you with our scones, skillfully baked by our enthusiastic ladies under the guidance of our chef, Eveline?

That's exactly what our group of ladies did when the winter weather made us yearn for scones for tea.

Alice measured the oil, Beth cracked the eggs , Johanna measured the flour, and while pouring the milk, they all started singing to help the scones rise.....

Beth, could recall the times she enjoyed scones with jam and cream in Durban..... Johanna, was able to discuss the recipe that her mum always made during school holidays in her hometown..... Alice, spoke fondly of her dad's special ingredient of soda water or lemonade that made them rise very well.....

As our ladies did such a good job,we enjoyed the scones with jam, cream and only in South Africa served with grated cheese πŸ˜ŠπŸ’•.

Thank you πŸ’• ladies please bake again we loved your laughter, joy and πŸžπŸ°πŸŽ‰πŸ˜‹πŸ’–and Eveline you are a star 🌟 for being able to provide such great support to us always.

Wednesday art therapy looked like the ideal moment to unwind and immerse oneself in colours and that is how our artists spent the morning....

Our Johanna, looks the happiest with her piece of art......whilst Chrissie was very thoughtful of the colours and took her time to get into her creation.

Beth and Dolf it was their very first art session and they will get more creative very soon.

Alice,Aletta, Cynthia and Nicoleen gave it their best and so much for being a participant with the smile that melted our hearts was our Johanna πŸ’•πŸ₯°πŸ™πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—
