We were delighted to welcome Robin Hills Scout Group to Delta Environmental Centre for an exciting bird walk!

The scouts explored the beauty of nature while learning to identify different bird species, observe their unique features, and appreciate the important role birds play in our ecosystems.

Every bird spotted was an opportunity to learn, discover, and connect with nature! 🌳

It's official - Hello Summer!

Last Saturday, Geoff Lockwoodgave a presentation at the Delta Environmental Centre covering the changes in the birdlife in 'my' garden - Delta Park, over the past fifty years.

While discussing a Willow Warbler that he had ringed and then re-trapped in the same net a year later, he pointed out that his records showed that we should be seeing this species back in the park 'any day now' . . . and yesterday morning, he heard the first distinctive rambling sub-song of this spectacular migrant.

Then less than an hour later, we had a flock of European Bee-eaters fly over the Centre - another first for the season.

His daily records for the past 25 years show that both species tend to arrive back in the park around Week 36 and, while a single returning swallow 'does not a summer make', two different Palearctic migrants arriving back on the same day certainly qualifies!

Summer is here!
