I have bills coming out of my ears. I really don’t want to have to do one of those posts that says ‘we have run out of food’ 😔

Can anyone help with any kind of donation? Either sponsor a bag of pellets R360 or any kind of donation that can go to vet bills or just the general bills I face daily, petrol, water, electricity, greens, hay, cleaning materials, the list goes on.

I woke up to this message this morning. And then I wonder why I have such anxiety all the time.

With the assistance of arcrabbitassist, we are trying our absolute best to find temporary homes for them until permanent homes can be found. So if you can offer either please leave a comment. If possible not too far from the Randburg area.

Most importantly right now we need funds to sterilise them all. That’s a cost of around R10000. Anyone got that laying around that they would like to donate 🫢☺️. Yes, I’m just joking. But if you can donate any amount towards their steris, it will help so much ♥️. (R500 a bunny, $31) and allow us to focus on finding them suitable homes.

And one amazing resident.

A while ago I received a message from Arnaaz Camay, a resident in Hurlingham Manor. She was very concerned for the feral / stray bunnies in her area. She was desperately looking for help in order to offer them a better life. Unfortunately as usual I have no way to rescue all the bunnies out on the streets 😢. There is nothing I’d like more than to have a property where I can take all the bunnies and provide them with a beautiful safe haven, until then we do the best we can with very limited resources. We explained that the best solution is to catch, sterilise and return them.

For the first 3 Sunday afternoons of May we were walking the streets of Hurlingham looking for bunnies. They are spread all over the suburb, but we have managed to catch 30 and sterilise 26 to date, 80% sponsored by Arnaaz (amazing), with some help from other residents.

It was a refreshing change to be welcomed by all residents very grateful for what we are doing and most very caring towards the bunnies. Some who would prefer if they moved out (to save their plants 🫢), but none of those horrible nasty people who hate them and just want them gone.

Sadly we also found some very young babies who seemed to have lost their mom. They were born in a compost heap, they were so dirty and so little. We tried really hard to save them, but just couldn’t get them strong. We also rescued the gorgeous wooly baby (looking for a home, with a friend). And as usual we found two dumped pet bunnies. Little brother & sister white buns, left in a park to fend for themselves 😢. Also looking for a home.

It will take some time to get all the bunnies sterilised. It’s challenging as there are other areas waiting for help. This past Sunday we were in Krugersdorp, coming Sunday we’ll be in Brakpan, Sunday thereafter Kyalami, it’s really difficult to manage the demand, but we won’t give up. We have to stop the breeding in order to stop the suffering.

‼️𝗔 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗮‼️

As luck would have it at the worst time for everyone, yes times are exceptionally tough, bad luck has struck and I am struggling and have a desperate request for help.

We use a lot of blankets and towels for the bunnies, which means we need to do several loads of washing a week. However our 25+ year old washing machine has decided it wanted to retire. When I turned it on last all I heard was a loud bang and then death. Dead as a door nail 😩😩. Cannot be repaired 😞

This means the washing has been piling up because there isn’t money laying around for appliances. Between my vet bills totalling R40+k buying hay and other food, general costs, it’s just impossible to be able to buy one.

If there is anyone with a washing machine they’re not using and willing to donate please comment on the post and i will contact you. Without sounding picky please can i ask for a reliable machine (should anyone have one to donate).

Alternatively I can of course just buy a new one, but then I need about R5000-R6000 ♥️

If you are in need of oat hay here is the perfect source.

This is the same hay I use for my bunnies. It’s a great deal, but best of all you will be supporting many of the bunnies rescued by us over the years. They are living the life in their sanctuary. Sanctuaries require funding and your support will be hugely appreciated. This sanctuary has been privately funded for the past 3 years, with the escalating cost of just about everything you can think of, it often becomes necessary to get some support.

❤️‍🩹 𝗚𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗻𝗻𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝘁 ❤️‍🩹

I got a call about a bunny that was spotted on a property in Kyalami with a ‘broken’ leg. I started working out how soon I could get there to catch him. Before I managed to plan anything I received a message from Bryanston Avian, Exotic and Small Animal Clinic with the photos of the xrays. Sadly his leg can’t be saved his foot is dislocated, and he needs an amputation.

I was really happy to hear the property owner managed to catch the bunny and also very impressed that they could catch a feral bunny 😁. Turns out this little boy is tame, super friendly and definitely not feral. So what his story is I will probably never know.

I would really appreciate some help with the vet costs, xrays, medication, amputation etc of R2000 ($125). If there is anyone who can contribute with any amount they can afford it would help tremendously as my vet bills are currently sky high 😔

📌 I forgot to add his sterilisation of R500 ($31). Total needed is actually R2500 ($156).
