This week we are shining a spotlight on our SAAYC Holiday Programme
The Holiday Programme is designed to create a safe, engaging, and empowering space for young people during school holidays. At SAAYC, we believe that holidays are more than just a break; they are an opportunity for growth, learning, creativity, and meaningful connection.

Through this programme, participants are exposed to a variety of fun, educational, and developmental activities that help them build confidence, discover new interests, and strengthen essential life skills. From interactive workshops and sports activities to creative arts, group challenges, and life skills sessions, the programme is intentionally designed to keep young minds active, inspired, and positively engaged.

The focus is on building key skills such as teamwork, communication, leadership, emotional resilience, and critical thinking, all within a vibrant, supportive, and youth-friendly environment. Each activity is carefully curated to ensure that young people are not only having fun, but also learning, growing, and being equipped for their future.
Delivered through structured sessions at SAAYC centres, the Holiday Programme also provides a safe space for social connection, positive mentorship, and personal development. It encourages young people to stay engaged in constructive activities, reducing exposure to negative influences while promoting healthy habits and positive decision-making.

The programme is open to young people within our communities and is implemented and overseen by our dedicated Programmes Coordinators and Centre teams, ensuring quality delivery and impactful experiences across all participating centres.

Parents who would like their children to be part of the programme are encouraged to reach out to our centres:

This Youth Month, we're celebrating the young leaders who are shaping their futures, and the futures of others.

Meet Neo!

His journey with SAAYC began as an eager ICTAge student exploring cybersecurity. Today, he stands as a facilitator, mentor, and role model, guiding the next generation through the same doors that once opened for him.

From learner to leader. From asking questions to answering them. From finding his voice to using it to empower others.

Neo didn't just build skills at SAAYC; he built character, confidence, and purpose.

This is what Youth Month is all about: growth in action.

Unlocking Agricultural Finance for Youth and Communities

This past week, SAAYC Limpopo Coordinator, Mrs. Salome Mabaso, attended an insightful stakeholder engagement hosted at the University of Limpopo under the theme: "Unlocking Agricultural Finance."

The event brought together key partners and stakeholders, including the Department of Social Development (DSD), Polokwane Municipality, Core Energy, the University of Limpopo, Capricorn District Municipality, FNB, representatives from the agricultural sector, and other development partners.

The engagement provided a valuable platform to discuss access to agricultural funding, opportunities within the agricultural value chain, and strategies to empower emerging farmers and young people interested in agribusiness.

SAAYC remains committed to connecting young people with opportunities, knowledge, and partnerships that contribute to sustainable livelihoods and economic empowerment.

OPPORTUNITIES UNDER ONE ROOF FOR OUR YOUTH!

Today, the City of Johannesburg, together with Social Development and various local organizations came together in a powerful collaboration aimed at empowering young people through information sharing and access to opportunities.

Each organization is showcasing the programmes, initiatives, and opportunities they offer so that young people can identify pathways that align with their skills, interests, and passions.

SAAYC was proudly invited through our Orange Farm-based clubs, represented by our Centre Manager, Mr. Tlou Boloka, alongside partners Wheel Warriors and Earth’s Heritage Environment.

This important engagement is happening right now and continues to bridge the gap between opportunity and youth empowerment.

Youth Day 2026

Today we honour the courage, resilience, and sacrifice of the young people of 1976 whose voices changed the course of our nation's history.

As we commemorate Youth Day under the theme "Reset@50 – The Future Calls," we are reminded that the future belongs to young people who dare to dream, lead, innovate, and create positive change.
At SAAYC, we remain committed to empowering young people with opportunities, skills, and platforms to reach their full potential and become active citizens who shape a better South Africa.
The legacy of 1976 lives on through every young person who chooses hope, leadership, and action.
