Remember, beautiful, flawed, creative human beings live here so you’ll need to practice forgiveness, kindness, honest expression and understanding to get along. Faith is the foundation of our family. It’s why we open our homes. It’s how we keep our doors open. And it’s the faith we place not only in Jesus, but in one another, that helps us do hard things and help one another pursue our greatest dreams. We rise by lifting others. We know it isn’t easy to defend the vulnerable, but we know it’s mighty brave to do the right thing, especially when it’s unpopular. We show gratitude. We cheer for each other. We own our mistakes and learn from them. We laugh lots (often at ourselves). We are always there for our family. We aren’t perfect but we’ll always be a family you belong to.

❄️ Do you have a blanket, jacket, or warm item that could make a child's winter a little brighter? ❤️

As the colder months settle in, many families are preparing their homes for winter—bringing out extra blankets, warmer clothes, and creating cosy spaces for the people they love.

At our centre, we are doing the same for the children in our care, and we would be grateful for your support.

We are currently in need of:

🧥 Clothing for all ages
🧣 Winter items (jackets, jerseys, beanies, scarves, gloves, and warm socks)
🛏️ Bedding, blankets, sheets, and pillows (single beds)
🪟 Curtains
🍽️ Kitchen utensils and household essentials
🍼 Nappies and baby care items
🏥 Medical vouchers or contributions towards healthcare needs

If you are unable to donate items, you can still make a difference through:

💳 Card donations on our property via our Yoco machine
🎁 Store vouchers for clothing, bedding, groceries, or household essentials

Every donation helps us create a warm, comfortable, and welcoming home for the children in our care.

Hello Community.

Since September last year, Oasis Haven has gone through a significant team shift. We’d love to introduce our community to one of the many roles that help create a home for our children.

Today, we honour our Child & Youth Care Workers (CYCWs) — the heartbeat of daily life at Oasis. They show up with patience, consistency, and compassion to ensure every child feels safe, seen, and loved.

They guide routines, support children through challenges, and turn everyday moments into opportunities for growth, healing, and connection. Much of their work is deeply personal, shaped by care and commitment to each child’s journey.

As quoted from one of our CYCWs, what they love most about the role is helping children grow and feel supported, and knowing that this brings them joy each day.

Another shared that working in a Oasis Haven means making a real difference — supporting children emotionally and being someone they can trust and learn from.

At the heart of it all is the belief that even the smallest act of care can change a child’s life. As one of our CYCWs beautifully expressed, it is in these everyday moments of care that hope is built and lives are shaped.

We love and appreciate our incredible CYCWs for the care, dedication, and heart they pour into our children every day. 💛

Soon, we will introduce their faces to you. But for now, this is their role — and the heart they bring to it every single day.

Scuffed toes.

Of showing up with courage, even when it’s hard.
Of walking into class anyway.
Of trying, learning, growing—again and again.

Not everything worn is a loss.

Sometimes, it’s the clearest sign that something is working.

That’s why we’re committed to putting new shoes on little feet that need them most.

Yesterday we took the kids for their optometrist check-ups 👓

While they waited, they were colouring in, chatting and just being themselves. Moments like these remind us of the simplicity of childhood, and how beautiful it is to see them just being kids.

Each child’s medical care comes at a real cost, and we’re committed to making sure they receive the support they need.

We’re also starting educational assessments at Tara, but the waiting period is often months long, which delays early intervention for children who urgently need support.

We’re grateful to the health professionals who already offer services free of charge, and would truly welcome more partners who can assist sooner.

We currently need support with flu vaccinations for 8 staff and 20 children, as well as ongoing support from optometrists, dentists, and other healthcare professionals willing to assist with regular check-ups and care.

This week at Oasis Haven, something truly meaningful took place ❤️

Our children participated in their very own democratic elections — from nominations to ballots, even the marking of fingers. But this was so much more than an activity.

For many, it was a moment of dignity… a moment to be heard, to belong, and to realise: my voice matters.

They didn’t just vote for leaders — they discovered their power.

Our elected leaders will now represent their peers through the Children’s Forum, carrying the voices of others and learning what it means to lead with courage and care.

Because at Oasis Haven, we are not just raising children — we are raising active citizens and future leaders. 🌱

The reality many children face every day is a powerful reminder of why our work at Oasis Haven Love Foundation truly matters.

Across communities, thousands of children are growing up without the basic necessities many of us take for granted:
📊 An estimated millions of children worldwide live in vulnerable conditions (UNICEF, 2023)
📊 In South Africa alone, over 3 million children are considered orphaned or vulnerable (UNICEF South Africa, 2022; Department of Social Development, 2019)
📊 Many children’s homes operate beyond capacity, struggling to provide food, clothing, and emotional support (Department of Social Development, 2019; Save the Children South Africa, 2021)
📊 Countless children go to bed hungry every night (Statistics South Africa, 2023).

These are not just numbers—they are real lives. Real stories. Real futures at risk.

What a beautiful weekend at Oasis Haven

From creative crafts to exciting Easter egg hunts, our children had the BEST time—and wow, are they talented! 🎨✨
