Remember, beautiful, flawed, creative human beings live here so you’ll need to practice forgiveness, kindness, honest expression and understanding to get along. Faith is the foundation of our family. It’s why we open our homes. It’s how we keep our doors open. And it’s the faith we place not only in Jesus, but in one another, that helps us do hard things and help one another pursue our greatest dreams. We rise by lifting others. We know it isn’t easy to defend the vulnerable, but we know it’s mighty brave to do the right thing, especially when it’s unpopular. We show gratitude. We cheer for each other. We own our mistakes and learn from them. We laugh lots (often at ourselves). We are always there for our family. We aren’t perfect but we’ll always be a family you belong to.

Once upon a time,
there were seven little princesses
in a little house filled with love. 👑

The day was done,
little feet were clean,
pyjamas were on,
and Aunty C had a story to tell.

Seven little faces gathered close,
as pages turned and imaginations wandered.

A little story,
a little laughter,
a little adventure before sleep. 📖✨

And when the story came to an end,
seven little princesses carried their dreams
off to bed.

And so the day came to an end…

THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE CARE

Our children come to Oasis Haven after being removed from their family environments due to circumstances such as abuse, exploitation, abandonment or neglect.

Even when necessary for their protection, being exposed to social workers, police, court processes and unfamiliar surroundings can be frightening for a child.

So when they arrive, they need more than a safe place to sleep.

They need people.

People who create safety and stability.
People who listen, advocate and support them.
People who prepare their meals, help with homework, attend meetings, manage their care and simply show up every day.

When we think about supporting a child, we often think about:

🍎 Food
👕 Clothing
🛏️ A safe bed
🎒 School needs
💊 Medical care

And all of these matter.

But none of it happens without people.

The food needs someone to prepare it.
The home needs someone to run it.
The resources need someone to coordinate them.
And the child needs someone to care.

Today, we want you to meet some of the people behind the care.

You never know which moment will stay with a child forever.

Sometimes it's a conversation.

Sometimes it's an act of kindness.

Sometimes it's climbing aboard a fire engine and meeting people who dedicate their lives to serving others.

This Mandela Day, our children had the incredible opportunity to spend time with the amazing team from SCP Private Fire Rescue Service. They explored a real fire engine, learnt about fire safety, discovered the equipment firefighters use every day, and experienced what it truly means to serve others with courage and compassion.

More than that, our children met firefighters who answered every question, encouraged every child, and showed them that real heroes inspire through their actions.

Sometimes the greatest act of service is inspiring someone else to dream.

Thank you, Chief Richard, Hano, Gail, Tyla-Joy and Henry, for giving our children a Mandela Day they'll never forget. Thank you for inspiring curiosity, confidence and dreams.

Dreams don't always come true all at once. Sometimes they arrive one mattress, one freshly painted wall, and one act of kindness at a time. ❤️

Our Dream List is about continually creating the very best home we can for our children. This week, one of those dreams became a reality.

A heartfelt thank you to Microelectrica for donating 20 new mattresses, beautiful bedding, office supplies, garden equipment, and for generously giving your time to paint our girls' home.

Because of your generosity, 20 children will enjoy 7,300 nights of safe, comfortable sleep this year —a gift that will continue making a difference for years to come.

Your kindness has created more than comfortable bedrooms. You've helped create a place where children can feel safe, valued, and truly at home.

Thank you for believing in our vision and helping us tick off one of the biggest items on our Dream List. More importantly, thank you for investing in the lives, comfort, and futures of the incredible children who call Oasis Haven home.

Today, I found myself looking at this beautiful photo of four of our little princesses, and I realised something...

They weren't looking for anything extraordinary. They were simply exploring.
Curious about the world around them. Finding wonder in places many of us would walk right past.

It made me stop and think...

Adulting isn't for the faint-hearted. 😅

One minute you're celebrating finishing school... the next you're trying to figure out budgets, bank accounts, job interviews, rental agreements, healthcare, employment contracts, and what on earth a credit score is.

The truth is, adulthood doesn't come with a manual—but we believe young people shouldn't have to figure it all out on their own.

Over the past three days, Oasis Haven's Independent Living Programme equipped our young people with the knowledge, confidence, and practical life skills they need to navigate adulthood successfully.

Together with our multidisciplinary team, they explored topics including financial literacy, employment readiness, accommodation, healthcare, relationships, higher education, communication, self-care, and many other essential life skills that will support them as they transition into independent living.

We didn't just prepare our young people to leave care—we invested in their future, empowering them to build meaningful lives, live independently, and make a positive contribution to society.

Yesterday's First Aid and CPR training was an investment in our team and the children we serve. Every skill learned helps ensure we're even better prepared to care for every child entrusted to us.

The Oasis Haven team embraced the day with focus, enthusiasm and a genuine willingness to learn. That mindset strengthens our team and the quality of care we provide.

A heartfelt thank you to Tarryn Palczewski from Rapid Response First Aid Training for an engaging, practical and hands-on training session. Thank you for equipping our team with life-saving skills and the confidence to respond when it matters most.
