πŸ¦‰ Conservation in action!

It’s been a busy and rewarding few weeks for The Owl Project. We celebrated the successful release of an owl at Crawford Preparatory School, carried out an owl box service at Cosmo City Schools, and spent an exciting day at Jeppe High School for Boys, where learners took part in an owl pellet dissection and discovered the fascinating world of these incredible birds.

Each activity provided a unique opportunity to connect learners with nature, promote environmental awareness, and highlight the important role owls play in maintaining healthy ecosystems.

A huge thank you to all the schools, educators, and learners who welcomed us and embraced these hands-on conservation experiences. Together, we're helping to build a future that values and protects wildlife.

History was made one owl at a time πŸ¦‰βœ¨

Learners from Soweto, part of the Owl Conservation Club founded by Owlproject.org, travelled to Woodlands Office Park to witness their very first owl ringing.

More than just a school outing, this unforgettable experience marked a milestone in youth conservation, inspiring future environmental leaders through hands-on learning, wildlife research, and the magic of seeing these incredible birds up close. πŸ’š

Hello May:

A new month means new opportunities to make a difference, a mark in the Conservation field. owlproject.org is ready for another impactful chapter filled with education, conservation and action.

Every talk, every rescue, every learner reached brings us one step closer to a future where people and owls coexist beautifully in harmony.

What a month to remember! πŸ¦‰

April had us out in the field, in classrooms, and in communities, doing what we love most. From hands-on pellet dissection sessions with our passionate township Owl Conservation Club learners, to sharing our knowledge with fellow bird enthusiasts at the East Rand Bird Club, every moment has been about learning and impact.

We also successfully monitored a barn owl release at Eagle Canyon Estate, and responded to a call in Cosmo City, safely rescuing owls that had made a home in a residential roof. Moments like these remind us how important awareness and coexistence truly are.

That’s how we end our April at Owlproject.org

πŸ¦‰ First-time scientists in Soweto πŸ¦‰

Today our Hooty Club kids with owlproject.org explored the hidden world inside an owl pellet, discovering tiny bones, learning how owls help control pests, and seeing nature in a whole new way.

Curiosity was high, hands were busy, and minds were blown.

From township classrooms to real conservation heroes, this is where it begins.

Not all stories are found inside books, some of are hidden in weird little lumps. Waiting for curious hands to bring them to life. Magalies JHR

Whoooo knew learning could be this much fun πŸ¦‰πŸ¦‰πŸ¦‰From an eye-opening owl talk at Moreleta Park, Pretoria to getting hands on with the dissecting of owl pellets, the kids were absolutely hooked! Tiny bones, big discoveries and lots of "ewws" that turned into "wows", curiosity definitely took flight on Saturday.
