πŸ’›πŸ’œ Happy Youth Day, South Africa πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦

In 1976, young people stood up against apartheid and fought for their right to education, dignity, and freedom. Their courage changed the course of history.

Today, the struggle looks different, but the fight continues.

Intersex youth are still fighting to have their bodies respected. We are fighting for bodily autonomy, informed consent, access to honest information, and the right to grow up without unnecessary and irreversible decisions being made on our behalf.

The youth of 1976 challenged a system that denied them their humanity. Today, intersex young people challenge systems that too often silence our voices and make decisions about our bodies without us.

This is our struggle.
This is our freedom movement.
This is our fight for dignity, self-determination, and human rights.

As we honour the youth who came before us, we also celebrate the intersex youth who continue to raise their voices, share their stories, and demand a future where every young person is respected exactly as they are.

✨ You deserve bodily autonomy.
✨ You deserve informed consent.
✨ You deserve time to understand your body.
✨ You deserve support.
✨ You deserve respect.

Your body. Your choices. Your power.

πŸ“’ Important Update: Intersexions Youth Day Link-Up

After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the Intersexions Youth Day Link-Up.

We know many of you were looking forward to this gathering, and we share your disappointment. However, we believe taking a little more time will allow us to create the meaningful, safe, and engaging experience that our community deserves.

To everyone who registered, shared our posters, invited others, and supported this initiative, thank you. Your enthusiasm reminds us how important spaces like these are for intersex youth, parents of intersex children, romantic partners of intersex people, and our wider community.

πŸ’› Please note:
β€’ The event has not been cancelled.
β€’ A new date will be announced soon.
β€’ Those who have already registered will be contacted with updates.

At Intersexions, we remain committed to creating spaces where our stories are heard, our voices are valued, and our futures are imagined together.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support.

🌻 Watch this space for the new date.

Pansexual Visibility is about more than attraction. It’s about recognizing that humanity has never fit neatly into boxes. πŸ’–πŸ’›πŸ’™

Intersex people exist across every sexuality and identity. Some are le***an, gay, bisexual, straight, pansexual, asexual, q***r, and many more. There is no β€œcorrect” way to be intersex, to love, or to exist.

For many intersex people, pansexuality can feel affirming because it moves beyond rigid gender expectations and embraces people for who they are, not just the categories society creates.

Our identities. Our words. Our truth.

πŸŒπŸ’›πŸ’œ REFLECTIONS FROM OUR IDAHOBIT INTERSEX WEBINAR

As part of IDAHOBIT 2026 under the theme β€œAt the Heart of Democracy,” Intersexions in collaboration with Intersex Human Rights India (IHRI) hosted a powerful cross-country conversation exploring bodily autonomy, democracy, intersexphobia, healthcare, and human rights.

Together, voices from South Africa and India reflected on what it means to exist in societies where democracy is often promised, yet bodily autonomy continues to be denied to intersex people.

Some powerful reflections from the discussion included:

πŸ—£οΈ β€œA democracy must give space for every single person. It shouldn’t be brute majority.”
πŸ—£οΈ β€œThe struggle for intersex rights is ultimately a struggle for the right to live, right to exist.”
πŸ—£οΈ β€œThe doctor called me rare, I called myself real.”
πŸ—£οΈ β€œWe should educate, not erase. We should include, not exclude.”

The webinar created a space for honest dialogue, shared realities, community reflection, and solidarity across borders.

Thank you to all the panelists, participants, activists, allies, and community members who joined us and contributed to this meaningful conversation.

To all the mothers of intersex children πŸ’œ

Thank you for loving fiercely in a world that does not always understand.
Thank you for protecting, learning, listening, and standing beside your children with courage and tenderness.

Today we celebrate you.
We see the sleepless nights, the questions, the quiet strength, and the unconditional love that continues to bloom through it all. 🌸

Your love creates safer worlds for intersex children to grow, exist, and shine as they are.

Freedom Day, but make it real. βœŠπŸ½πŸ’›πŸ’œ

True freedom for intersex people is not a footnote in the story of liberation, it is the story. It looks like bodily autonomy without negotiation. It sounds like identities spoken without fear. It feels like a world where no one is β€œfixed,” hidden, or erased.

When intersex people are free, the blueprint of freedom expands for everyone. Borders soften. Systems shift. Humanity breathes a little deeper.

This is more than visibility. This is liberation.

True freedom for intersex people would look like liberation for all humans.

Three ways I’m known.
Three different names, shaped by different eyes.

A daughter at home.
A question in medical spaces.
A truth in love.

This is what it means to exist in pieces depending on who is looking…
and still hold yourself together.

Intersex lives are not confusion.
They are lived, felt, and deeply real.
