Through the partnership between PROTEC STEM and 𝐀𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐠𝐡 𝐆𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐏𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚, a new Science Resource Centre has been established to provide learners with greater access to hands-on scientific learning, exploration, and innovation.

These moments capture the excitement, collaboration, and shared commitment to creating opportunities that empower the next generation of scientists, engineers, innovators, and problem-solvers.

Together, we are building spaces where curiosity thrives, and future STEM careers begin. 🚀

𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄 | 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐂 𝐈𝐍 𝐅𝐎𝐂𝐔𝐒: 📍 Event Recap | Altron Visits the Soweto Branch

A heartfelt thank you to Altron for spending the morning with our learners at the Soweto Branch! ☕💙

The day began with a warm welcome as Altron treated learners and tutors to hot chocolate and muffins, creating a positive and inviting atmosphere before the session began.

Learners then participated in an engaging presentation on careers in IT, gaining valuable insights into the technology sector and the exciting opportunities it offers. The session also unpacked Altron's bursary opportunities, giving learners practical insight into how they can turn their interest in tech into a real academic and career plan.

What stood out most was the energy in the room. Learners leaned in, asked sharp questions, and weren't shy about sharing what excites them about STEM, from coding to cybersecurity to AI. It was a room full of curiosity, and Altron met it with honesty and encouragement.

Thank you, Altron, for showing up for our learners and helping them see just how wide the world of technology really is. The future innovators of South Africa got a glimpse of what's possible. 💻

𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄 | 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐂 𝐈𝐍 𝐅𝐎𝐂𝐔𝐒: Day 1 of the 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐌 𝐊𝐚𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐃𝐚𝐲 was nothing short of inspiring, energetic, and impactful 🚀

Hosted in partnership with LEAP (Lean Enterprise Acceleration Programmes), the event created an exciting space where learners could explore the world of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics through hands-on activities, engaging discussions, and real industry exposure. From creativity and teamwork to problem-solving and innovation, the atmosphere throughout the day reflected the incredible potential of young women stepping confidently into STEM spaces 👩🏽‍🔬

One of the highlights of the day was the inspiring engagement with our Grade 11 and 12 learners, who participated in impactful discussions with guest speakers and industry professionals. Learners gained valuable insight into career pathways, personal development, and the many opportunities available within STEM fields.

We were honoured to welcome 𝐉𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐮𝐤𝐚, representative from the Gauteng Department of Education, who addressed learners on the importance of education, empowerment, and creating future opportunities through STEM.

Their stories, advice, and encouragement left learners inspired and motivated to dream bigger about their futures.

While the senior learners attended speaker sessions, other grades participated in exciting practical STEM activities:

• Grade 8 – 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐞
• Grade 9 –𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐃𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡
• Grade 10 – 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐲

These interactive activities allowed learners to apply critical thinking, teamwork, and creativity in a fun and engaging way.

Adding even more value to the experience were exciting industry expos hosted by the 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 (SAIW), 𝐉𝐚𝐡𝐬𝐢𝐫𝐢 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐇𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐚𝐝𝐬, and 𝐖𝐈𝐏𝐈𝐒𝐀. Learners were exposed to real-world STEM careers and industries, helping them connect classroom learning with future possibilities.

The excitement continued as learners won prizes throughout the day and received science kits to take home, allowing them to continue exploring and experimenting beyond the event itself 🧪🏆

Day 1 was more than just an event — it was a reminder of the importance of creating spaces where young women are encouraged, equipped, and empowered to lead in STEM.
