THE GREATEST INVESTMENT A YOUNG PERSON CAN MAKE IS IN THEIR OWN PREPARATION.

On Rainbow Fm 90.7’s Club Joy, Ray and Cameron sat down with our Strategic Partnerships & Special Projects Lead, Thabo Joseph Molefe, to explore why EmpowaYouth is committed to preparing young people long before opportunity arrives. The conversation highlighted a simple truth: employability, entrepreneurship and leadership are built through skills, networks, consistency and access.

For more than eight years, EmpowaYouth has reached over 198,000 young people across South Africa, with more than 2,000 progressing into accredited training, driver’s licence programmes and formal business registrations. During the recent EmpowaYouth Week in the Vaal, 10,000+ young people engaged with 86+ partners, creating direct pathways into employment, entrepreneurship, skills development and the industries of the future.

At EmpowaYouth, preparation meets opportunity. Through strategic partnerships, we are building pathways that equip young people to participate, contribute and lead in South Africa’s future economy.

YAEI x Absa Zenzele Youth Entrepreneurship Skills Programme 2026 has opened Cohort 2 to accommodate the high demand.

This opportunity is open to youth who are

✅ Not in Employment, Education or Training (including unemployed graduates)
✅ Aspiring Entrepreneurs
✅ Interested in learning how to build sustainable enterprises

Participants will access business training, financial management skills, enterprise sustainability masterclasses, coaching, funding readiness support, grant opportunities, and guided funding applications.

As part of financial inclusion, participants will also receive access to the flexi.africa portal, a blended finance platform and ecosystem enabler, designed to bridge the finance and business management divide by originating, structuring, and de-risking investment opportunities.
