What Does It Really Take to Run a Lions Club? 🦁
When people see a Lions Club event, they see the smiles, the volunteers, the fundraising and the community being helped.
But behind every successful project is a team of people making it happen.
Running a Lions Club takes more than showing up on the day. It takes planning, teamwork, administration, communication, fundraising, service and, most importantly, people who are willing to give their time and skills.
🦁 Club President – Provides leadership, direction and motivation. Keeps the club focused on its purpose and brings everyone together.
📝 Secretary – Keeps the administration running. Meetings, minutes, correspondence, records, reports and communication all need attention.
💰 Treasurer – Looks after the finances, budgets, payments, records and financial reporting. Every project needs responsible financial management.
👥 Membership Chair – Welcomes new members, helps them find their place and works to keep existing members engaged, valued and involved.
❤️ Service Chair – Helps turn ideas into meaningful service projects. Identifies community needs and coordinates the club's humanitarian work.
📣 Marketing / PRO – Tells the community what Lions are doing. Social media, posters, WhatsApp, publicity, photographs and telling our stories are all part of the job.
🎤 Lions Tamer – Helps create the atmosphere at meetings and events, making sure members feel welcomed and meetings run smoothly.
💡 Fundraising Team – Finds creative ways to raise the funds that allow the club to support people and organisations in our community.
🤝 And then there are the members…
The people who collect food.
Set up tables.
Pack donations.
Sell tickets.
Serve meals.
Do health screenings.
Plan events.
Drive vehicles.
Make phone calls.
Take photographs.
Approach sponsors.
Wash up afterwards.
And sometimes simply do whatever needs to be done.
That's what it takes to run a Lions Club.
It isn't one person doing everything.
It's a team of people bringing different skills, talents, ideas and abilities together for a common purpose:
WE SERVE. 🦁
And here's the important part…
You don't have to give all your time.
You don't have to do every job.
You don't have to be an expert.
Give what you can. Do what you enjoy. Use the skills you already have. Learn something new.
There is so much more to being a Lions member than simply volunteering.
It's belonging to a team that makes a difference in the community. ❤️
