We've worked ourselves to the core over the past 2 days and after we finished cleaning up around the Alexander substation yesterday, we revisited the corner of Tylden and Woodifield Street. After filling up as much bags as we had with us, we reached out to Mrs Umelda Olivier, who was more than happy to assist us with one of the Action Tow-In trucks to cart all the refuse to the town landfill. Our smiles soon turned into frowns the moment we got to the landfill as we were flatly denied entry because we were told that we needed to pay R360 for a ticket to enter the premises. Despite trying our best to explain that we were assisting the community due to the amount of litter which accumulated since the municipal trucks stopped collecting, however we were still given a stern refusal to enter. After a good few hours of pleading, we were eventually saved by Mrs van Rensburg from Garden and Pool Queenstown, who so happened to be in the area and did fought to let us in. By the time we got back to town, it was already late and we were forced to call it a day. This morning, we woke up bright and early, and headed straight to Tylden street to finishing off the work we'd left yesterday. Thankfully a group of municipal workers stopped to assist us and we cleared the corner in no time. We then headed over to Bushell Street, which was just as filthy if not worse than Tylden and cleaned up all the refuse bags which had also been ripped through, while still having to fight off vagrants who were constantly ripping through them as we were cleaning. After reaching out to Mr and Mrs Olivier once again, we collected all the refuse bags we'd even lost count of including the ones in Tylden street and filled their truck to the brim before having to call it another highly productive day. Despite tiring and trying the past few days have been, we are still committed and determined to give it our all until we ultimately reach our goal of a
