💔 Over 900 Unclaimed Bodies in KZN Mortuaries

KwaZulu-Natal’s state mortuaries are holding around 900 unclaimed bodies, some dating back as far as 2017.

⚠️ The Provincial Health Portfolio Committee has issued an urgent appeal for families to report missing loved ones to the SAPS.

👉 Dr Imran Keeka, committee chairperson, stressed that:

Police and mortuaries work together to trace families.

The process is slowed when families don’t come forward.

Limited space and resources are straining mortuaries.

✅ Residents are urged to contact their nearest police station if they have information on missing persons. This step could help reduce the backlog and bring closure to grieving families.
