The NSTF is a stakeholder forum for all South African organisations with an interest in science, engineering, technology and innovation. It is the largest and most diverse forum of its kind. NSTF is a non-governmental organisation registered as both a non profit company and non profit organisation.

The NSTF discussion forum on “Research software as enabler and research output” took place online on 7–8 October 2026.

The forum was held in partnership with the NSTF Science Councils and Statutory Bodies Sector (SciCom) and the University of Cape Town eResearch Centre. It brought together researchers and professionals to discuss the role of research software in advancing research and its recognition as a research output.
