UNLOCKING THE ENTREPRENEURIAL POTENTIAL OF RESEARCH

On World Entrepreneurs’ Day (21 August), the NSTF celebrates the Innovation and Commercialisation Unit at Stellenbosch University for showing how research can become real-world impact.

The Unit, comprising Innovus Technology Transfer Office, LaunchLab and University of Stellenbosch Enterprises (USE), helps researchers protect their intellectual property, commercialise innovations and develop spin-out companies.

With more than 30 spin-out companies established, the Unit demonstrates what is possible when academic excellence meets entrepreneurial thinking. The Innovation and Commercialisation Unit was the recipient of the 2025 NSTF-South32 Innovation Award: Corporate Organisation, sponsored by NIPMO.

To learn more about the important day and the Unit’s award-winning work, read the media release:https://nstf.org.za/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/26WorldEntrepreneursDayRelease.pdf
