Whispers Speech and Hearing Centre Learning Language for Living Our primary goal remains: Learning language for living.

The Centre officially opened it’s doors under new management and it’s new name on 1 April 2014 – building on the 18 year legacy left behind by Carel Du Toit Trust Pretoria. Whispers Speech and Hearing Centre now functions as a Not for Profit Section 21 Company under a Board of Directors whose diversity reflects the many communities that we work in. The organisation is also a registered Non-Profit

Organisation (NPO 126-074) as well as a SARS registered Public Benefit Organisation (PBO 930 046 427)

Whispers Speech and Hearing Centre currently has four major programs, namely:
*Whispers Early Childhood Development Centre, a full time Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centre. For children with hearing and communication difficulties, who may also have other disabilities.
*The Community Hearing Outreach Project, where we provide free hearing care services to those in the community who cannot afford it.
*Parent Guidance Program, is where parents and families are guided in how to stimulate the listening and spoken language of their child with hearing impairment. This is also provided to educators and caregivers of children who have graduated from the programme and entered mainstream education. The Centre also offers this service via the internet via its tele-intervention programme SkIP.
* Youth Skills Development and Education Program, preparing the next generation of therapists and caregivers is essential to us. We work closely with schools and Universities to teach and assist children and youth to work with our disabled children whether on a voluntary, academic, or community service manner.

Today I got to reconnect 4 amazing young people, who learned language together many many years ago, with each other. They in turn showed our current parents what is possible, and that they can dream big for their deaf children. And we did it all over an exciting shared experience with Mercy Wings Motorcycle Ministry Pretoria .

To watch a shy reserved little boy, reach out to a stranger and ask to wear his helmet and sit on his bike. The shear joy on his face, when the stranger understood his request and then, not only let him sit on the bike, but let him start, rev and press the ho**er.

Miracles and magic, a rainbow over what started out as a gloomy day.
