South Africans are understandably frustrated with commissions of inquiry, which often appear to be façades of inaction and indecisiveness.
However, in the case of the allegations raised by Mkhwanazi, the President is right to subject them to due process. The inquiry will establish the facts, and it has been granted the necessary powers to do so.
The last thing the country needs is a president who acts impulsively and irrationally. A measured and lawful approach is essential to preserving the integrity of our institutions.
