🐾💙 A VISIT FULL OF LOVE, JOY & WAGGING TAILS! 💙🐾

Last week, something truly special happened at our Forget-Me-Not Lounge at SAVF Susan Strijdom Home. 🌸🐶🐰

Our wonderful dementia residents were blessed with a very special visit from some beautiful furry friends — adorable dogs and a sweet little rabbit! 🐕🐇❤️

It was more than just a visit; it was a moment filled with love, happiness, comfort and pure magic. ✨💕

Watching the smiles on our residents’ faces, seeing the excitement in their eyes and witnessing the joy these precious animals brought into their hearts was something truly unforgettable. Some moments are simply too beautiful for words, and this was one of them. 🥹❤️

Sometimes, the most powerful connections don't need words. A gentle touch, a wagging tail, a soft furry cuddle or simply being near a loving animal can bring comfort and happiness in ways we cannot explain. 🐾💗

These precious moments remind us that love has no language, kindness has no age, and happiness can come with four paws and a little fluffy nose. 🐶🐰🌷

To everyone who made this beautiful experience possible, thank you for bringing so much warmth, laughter and love into our Forget-Me-Not Lounge. You helped create memories that will forever hold a special place in our hearts. 💖

🖤 Together We Stand Against Gender-Based Violence 🖤
On Friday, 18 September 2026, we proudly wore black in memory of every woman whose life was taken through the tragedy of gender-based violence.
Today, we remember the mothers, daughters, sisters, friends, and loved ones who never had the chance to see another sunrise. We lit candles in their honour, allowing their memories to shine brightly in our hearts. Each flame represented a life lost, a family forever changed, and a reminder that their stories will never be forgotten.
We also lit these candles for those who continue to live with the pain, fear, and trauma caused by violence. We stand with every woman and child who has been affected. Your voices matter, your lives matter, and you are not alone.
Gender-based violence has stolen far too many lives and shattered far too many families. As a community, we say enough is enough. This violence must stop. We must continue to speak out, support one another, educate future generations, and create a safer world for all women and children.
Luke 23:28 "But Jesus turned unto them, and said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children."
May we never stop fighting for a future where every woman and child can live free from fear.

On 3 October 2026, we had the incredible privilege of welcoming the legendary Rocco de Villiers to our old age home.

What an amazing treat it was for our residents! They enjoyed every moment of his visit — from his wonderful sense of humour and entertaining stories to his breathtaking piano performance. It was truly a day filled with joy, laughter, music, and unforgettable memories.

We were also honoured to be the 401st old age home that Rocco has blessed with his remarkable talent and generosity. His passion for bringing happiness through music is truly inspiring.

Rocco, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for sharing your time, talent, and kindness with us. You made a lasting impact on our residents and staff, and this is a day that will be remembered for years to come.

You are truly one of a kind, and we are incredibly grateful for the joy you brought to SAVF Susan Strijdom Home.

We proudly celebrated Heritage Day at SAVF Susan Strijdom Home.

Heritage Day is a special reminder of the rich cultures, traditions, and diversity that make South Africa so unique. It gives us the opportunity to honour our roots, celebrate our stories, and appreciate the values that bring us together as one nation.

Our residents and staff enjoyed a wonderful day filled with laughter, friendship, and the sharing of traditions. Moments like these remind us that our heritage is not only about where we come from, but also about the memories we create together and the respect we show for one another.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this day so special. We are proud to celebrate the beauty of our diverse cultures and the unity that connects us all.

Today our hearts are filled with gratitude, joy, and beautiful memories as we celebrate our wonderful Spring Day at SAVF Susan Strijdom Home. 🌸🌼🌷

A sincere and heartfelt thank you to every staff member at SAVF Susan Strijdom Home for your incredible effort, dedication, and contribution in making this day such a special success. Your hard work, enthusiasm, and caring hearts created a day filled with laughter, happiness, friendship, and unforgettable moments.

We would also like to extend our deepest appreciation to SAVF Silversig, SAVF Ruimte, and SAVF Princess Park for joining us and sharing in this beautiful celebration. Your presence added so much warmth and joy to our day, reminding us of the strength of community and the special bonds we share.
