Behind every number is a name.
Behind every statistic is a story.

Behind every meal, every shower, every voucher earned, and every night in a safe bed... is a person deeply loved by God.

When we share our Lighthouse statistics, we never want them to become "just numbers."

These numbers represent conversations over a warm meal.
They represent dignity being restored.
They represent hope replacing despair.
They represent people discovering that they are seen, valued and not forgotten.

As you look through these May & June statistics, our prayer is that you'll see far more than numbers.

We hope you'll see people.

People with dreams.
People with stories.
People finding hope.
People with God-given purpose.

We're incredibly grateful to every individual, church, business, organisation and volunteer who chooses to walk this journey with us. Every prayer, every donation, every hour served, and every act of kindness becomes part of someone's restoration story.

Thank You, Lord, for allowing us the privilege of serving our city together.

May we never become so familiar with the numbers that we forget the immeasurable worth of the one behind each of them.

Gratitude! 🙌🏽

Our first year is behind us, and February marked the beginning of our second year. We have learned so much and now stand on a strong foundation to build from.

Most importantly—lives are being transformed. Radically. Newness of life!
The pathway is in place, and it is working. It is effective!

Phase 1 – Basic needs, introduction to therapy, readiness for change!
Phase 2 – In-house recovery with incredible success. Thank You, Lord!
Phase 3 – Thank you to U-Turn for outstanding work readiness and independent living training

The flow is established. Now we grow, refine, and become even more effective—walking alongside individuals on their journey out of homelessness.

This is only possible because of your support, your prayers, and your generosity.
We honor and celebrate each one of you who is sowing into this work.

We are still out on the streets tonight, doing our part for the Tshwane Homeless Count.

What makes it even more special is having some of our own clients helping with the count — men who once lived on these very streets, but who have now moved forward in their journey.

Their gratitude for how far the Lord has brought them, and for no longer being on the streets, is priceless.

This past weekend marked another special milestone for U-Turn Pretoria and our Lighthouse Centre.

We celebrated several important steps of progression in the journey out of homelessness:

🏠 Phase 3 clients moved into transitional homes as they prepare for independent living.

💼 Phase 2 clients progressed into Phase 3, beginning their Work Readiness journey.

💚 Phase 1 clients progressed into Phase 2, entering deeper Recovery and restoration.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to make this step-over moment meaningful for each individual who progressed this weekend.

It is truly a blessing to witness God’s healing and transforming work in so many lives.

Step by step, we are building an effective pathway out of homelessness.

Today we had the privilege of a “window moment” into the recovery journey Liezl is leading with our Phase 2 clients.

She presents the Project Exodus Recovery Skills content with depth, clarity and grace — turning powerful principles into practical life transformation. Not only our clients, but also staff, volunteers and guests were able to experience these profound “life skills” in action.

No wonder our upper group session room is known as the “University of Life.”

A heartfelt thank you to the Project Exodus team for faithfully leading the way in Godly recovery principles. And thank you to everyone who joined us — recovery truly happens in community.

Today’s session was a powerful recap and overview of all 12 modules — a beautiful reminder of how far these clients have come.

Just over a year ago we started this journey with faith, prayer, and a simple desire to serve — and today our hearts are full of gratitude. 🙏🏽

To every person, organisation, business and partner who prayed, gave, volunteered, supported financially, donated goods, shared posts, created awareness, or simply stood with us — thank you. You have been part of every life touched this past year.

This is not just a report of numbers — it is a testimony of God’s faithfulness and a community choosing compassion, dignity, and hope. Every meal served, every shower provided, every voucher earned, every night off the streets represents a real person with a story, worth, and purpose.

Thank you for walking this journey with us as we serve those most vulnerable in our city. We celebrate this first year together — and we trust God for what lies ahead.

Please continue to keep this work in your prayers as we move into our next season of serving, restoring, and walking alongside people toward lasting change.

Every person’s journey is different—and so it is at U-Turn Pretoria.

Nthuthuko holds a law degree, yet couldn’t secure a placement to complete his articles, eventually ending up on the streets. Last year he joined Lighthouse, progressed through Phase 2 in June 2025, and became part of our first Phase 3 intake in October 2025.

As part of U-Turn’s work-readiness journey, Nthuthuko spent time in the retail environment, intentionally building work ethic, structure, and consistency. While this foundation was being laid, God was already at work behind the scenes.

Through a unique work-readiness pathway, doors opened for him to begin his articles year. A sincere thank you to Matt, and especially Latham, for walking this journey with him.

Yesterday marked a powerful milestone—Nthuthuko’s first day in court as a candidate attorney.

We are deeply grateful for what God is doing in the heart of Pretoria, and for everyone who continues to lift up our arms and stand with us at U-Turn Pretoria.
