Mandela Day Skills Development Project 2026! ✨️💪📿

We hosted a skills development project for Mandela Day this year. We had old ladies, mommies with they children there and a few men (they did the braai work). Everyone had the opportunity to create brackets, anklets necklaces, key chains as many as they like to just bring a bit of joy this cold winter.

In the morning we served warm oats with sugar and milk for breakfast, boerewors rolls for lunch, Kingsley on tap and sweets and chips to snack on during the creative process. ❣️💪

We want to personally thank Truda Foods and Richester Sweets for donating the chips and sweets. I promise they were devoured whole heartedly and super appreciated.

Thank you to our donors who made this day possible. It was a lovely day and there was so much laughter between the few grunts of frustration because the gut would break mid task 😂

✔️ Dream accomplished!

We did it. Our community pulled together and made it possible for K to go on his tour. One of Haven's core missions is to ensure that the families in our care - whether you housed by Haven or are part of our outreach Program. We will do everything in our power to ensure that the children never have to feel the burden of poverty. This means we make a plan for them to attend the tours that may come their way. Or pay for the gear that is needed or the dances such the valentine balls or the matric dances.

We try our best to make their upbringing better than their circumstances. We thank you for standing by us and helping us. We appreciate each one of you.

Does anyone happen to know anyone who is willing to donate a stroller?

We have recently welcomed a single mommy with three children (her youngest being 2).

We urgently need a stroller to make things a little easier. If you know anyone who could donate a stroller we would very grateful! Second hand is perfect.

16 June 2026 - Youth day adventures! 🌟✨

This Youth Day, we took the girls out for a special day of fun, laughter, and making memories! We kicked things off with a classic Spur meal - burger soda and an ice cream sundae, caught a movie, and wrapped up the afternoon admiring a vintage bike show with some delicious milkshakes. 🍔🎬🥤🏍️

Days like these are a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do—to bring joy, create happy spaces, and show our youth how incredibly valued they are.

A special THANK YOU to Arrowridge Spur, Nu Metro Menlyn Park and Mugg n Bean Irene! Your hospitality and support was top notch. And a Thank you to everyone whose continuous support helps us create these unforgettable moments for our Haven family. ❤️

✨ Looking Back at What We've Been Up To! ✨

Here is a quick look at what your support achieved over the last few months:

🦺 March: We rolled up our sleeves and got stuck into some heavy lifting with major digging and groundwork! 🧱
🐣 April: We celebrated Easter by bringing smiles, joy, and a festive party to those who needed it most. 🎉
❄️ May: As the winter chill set in, you helped us warm hearts with our Blanket Drive. Because of your incredible generosity, so many families stayed warm! 🧣(We are still in the process of distributing more warm blankets to those who needed it).

One of our outreach families has reached out to us to ask for assistance. Their son has made the first team and is required to go on the cricket tour this month end. We know it is a tight deadline however we believe our community can pull together and help this young man.

We appreciate any contribution towards this project, no amount is to small.

⏳ Looking Back: Our January Milestones! 🔨🧱

We are doing a bit of catching up on our page to show you what we've been up to, and we just have to share this incredible look back at January 2026!

As you can see in the collage below, the new year started with a bang as we rolled up our sleeves for some serious building and renovations to improve our facilities.

But the construction was only half the blessing! Around the exact same time, we were working hard to get our kids ready for the school year. Thanks to amazing hearts in our community, we successfully raised vital funds to supply both the children we house full-time and the children we support through our outreach programs with:

Looking back at these photos reminds us of how much can be achieved when a community comes together. A huge, delayed (but deeply felt!) thank you to everyone who made January such a massive success for us! ❤️
