Vet Books for Africa

Vet Books for Africa An organization who strives to promote conservation all over Africa, through education! 📚🌍 Knowledge is power.

Vet Books for Africa is a biannual venture, established in 1993, aimed at distributing textbooks, journals and equipment, of veterinary interest, to veterinary faculties in a number of African countries, where these commodities are needed.

8 veterinary students from the University of Pretoria will be travelling from Onderstepoort all the way up to Kenya for 6 weeks at the end of 2022. We aim to

improve international relations between veterinary students in an effort to promote a uniform approach towards animal health care and ultimately, to promote the conservation of this beautiful continent. We want to strive towards making a difference and reaching out to whoever needs a helping hand. We want to be able to unlock a door to proper education of the veterinary field and provide help where we can. This page acts as a platform for us, the 2022 committee, to provide you, our followers, any and all updates about our activities building up to the trip. We as a committee look forward to engaging with you. We hope you fall in love with the mission and become as passionate about it as we are.

A MASSIVE MOVE FOR VETBOOKS. 🚘🚘

Vetbooks is proud to acknowledge and thank Ford South Africa for their generous sponsorship of not one, but TWO vehicles for our first trip.

This remarkable contribution is far more than just transportation, it is an investment in our mission. The vehicles will enable our team to reach underserved communities, extend vital veterinary services, and create a lasting impact where it is needed most.

We are honoured to partner with an organisation that shares our commitment to making a meaningful difference. Thank you, Ford South Africa and the Ford Wildlife Foundation, for helping us turn purpose into action and for playing a pivotal role in the success of this journey.

From freezing res rugby nights and night markets, to post-clubhouse jols and countless walks through the corridors, we’d like to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting our VetBooks for Africa Vetkoek fundraising sales 💛

Every purchase brought us one step closer to our fundraising goal for our first trip, and we could not have done it without this incredible community behind us.

Fundraising sales towards the first trip are now closed, but vetkoek sales will continue in July towards trip two. 🐾✨

We would like to welcome our first sponsor for the 2026 term! 🙌🏼

Wildlife Pharmaceuticals, a proudly South African veterinary pharmaceutical manufacturer, is dedicated to advancing wildlife veterinary science. Established in 1997, the company specialises in the development, manufacture, and registration of medicines for the chemical immobilisation of wildlife. Small-batch APls and sterile injectables are produced under strict cGMP conditions, ensuring veterinarians have access to quality, reliable medicines. The company also actively supports the wildlife veterinary community through educational content, webinars, and ongoing collaboration.

We as the Vetbooks for Africa team are so grateful and excited to have you on board! We look forward to working with you this year and thank you again for your support and donation of textbooks towards our mission! 📚
