A Beacon of Hope in the Heart of Pretoria: Introducing the Collen Zwane Orphanage
PRETORIA – In the bustling landscape of Pretoria Central, a quiet but powerful mission is underway. The Collen Zwane Orphanage, a registered Non-Profit Organization (NPO 318-196) and Public Benefit Organization (PBO 930086319), has officially opened its doors and its heart, dedicating itself to providing a safe, nurturing, and loving home for vulnerable children.
Located at 41 WF Nkomo Street, the orphanage was established on the fundamental belief that every child deserves the foundation of a stable family, quality education, and unwavering support to thrive. As a registered PBO, all donations made to the orphanage are eligible for a Section 18A tax certificate, allowing South African taxpayers to claim their contributions back against their taxable income.
“Our vision is simple yet profound: to transform the lives of children who need it most,” says Collen Zwane, the Chairperson of the organization. “We are more than just a shelter; we strive to be a true home. We are committed to ensuring each child in our care receives not only for their basic needs but also the educational support and emotional guidance necessary to build a bright and successful future.”
To kickstart its vital community work, the Collen Zwane Orphanage is launching its flagship “R5 Campaign.” This initiative is designed to demonstrate how small, collective contributions can create a massive impact.
“The R5 Campaign is built on the power of community,” explains Chairperson Collen Zwane. “While a five-rand coin might seem insignificant alone, when pooled together from hundreds and thousands of compassionate people, it becomes a powerful force for good. It can provide a nutritious meal, a school textbook, a warm blanket, and most importantly, the message to our children that they are not forgotten—that their community is behind them.”
The orphanage is calling on the public, local businesses, and community groups to join this movement. Whether it's a one-time gift or a recurring monthly donation, every R5 brings them closer to their goals.
