At Merci's Basket, we believe that sometimes the greatest gift we can offer is encouragement. Today we celebrate Richard and the incredible milestone he has achieved.

"What started as a dream has been accomplished. You may not remember the words you said to me the first time we met. They were: "Keep on going Richard, I respect that you work full-time and study at the same time." Those words kept me going even on hard days. It is my deepest desire to serve humanity with my gifts and talents."

We are very proud of Richard, who obtained his BCom degree in Industrial and Organisational Psychology and has been accepted for an honours degree.

A couple in our community recently lost everything when their home burnt down in an informal settlement. They escaped with only the clothes on their backs.

But in the middle of such heartbreak, something beautiful happened. The Merci’s Basket community came together to provide the essentials they needed to start rebuilding their lives.
It is such a blessing to witness people choosing compassion, kindness, and generosity when others are in need. Thank you to every person who gave, shared, donated, and cared.

Hello julle!

Ons gaan in Julie ‘n virtual stap/draf challenge hou. Dit is om fondse in te samel vir klein Lente van Jaarsveld.

Julie is haar verjaarsdagmaand en ons voel dit is die perfekte tyd om iets vir haar te doen en om haar LEWE te vier!

Daar is 2 kategorië vir hierdie uitdaging:
-Stap
-Draf

Die inskrywingsfooi is R350 en dit sluit ‘n custom paar kouse en oefenpet in.

Die deelnemers wat die meeste kilometers gedraf/stap het van elke kategorie gaan ook ‘n lekker prys wen en ons gaan deur die maand lucky draws doen waar enige iemand die kans staan om ‘n prys te wen.

“The strongest people I know are carrying invisible burdens.”

One thing community work has taught me is that many parents carry unimaginable pressure quietly, simply to protect their children from it.
Behind closed doors are mothers and fathers skipping meals so their children can eat. Parents lying awake at night trying to figure out how to stretch what’s left for one more week. Families are doing everything they can to make sure their children never feel the full weight of the burden they are carrying.

And often, from the outside, nobody would ever know.

Through Merci's Basket, we want to support families with dignity and compassion, because sometimes providing a simple food basket means more than food.
It means relief.
It means hope.
It means a parent can breathe for a moment.

Sometimes the strongest people are the ones fighting battles nobody can see.
