20/03/2026

The Rain Queen Modjadji Foundation unequivocally rejects and distances itself from any claims suggesting that it condones or recognises any individual purporting to hold traditional kingship outside the lawful and culturally recognised structures of the Republic of South Africa.

This position is further reinforced by the recent incident involving members of a Nigerian community who reportedly proceeded to install their own “king” within South Africa without the knowledge, consent, or recognition of the Government of South Africa, relevant authorities, or the recognised traditional leadership structures of this country.
Such actions are deeply concerning and unacceptable.

Traditional leadership in South Africa is a constitutionally protected institution, governed and formally recognised through the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA). It is not a title that can be self-assumed, imported, or conferred outside of the legal and cultural frameworks that uphold its legitimacy.

Any attempt to establish parallel or unauthorised traditional authority within South Africa not only undermines the rule of law, but also disrespects the sovereignty, dignity, and heritage of our recognised kings, queens, and the communities they serve.
As a Princess of the Balobedu Queendom, under the sacred lineage of the Rain Queen Modjadji, I remain resolute in defending the integrity of our traditional institutions and ensuring that they are not diluted or compromised by external or unrecognised claims.

The Rain Queen Modjadji Foundation stands firmly with all lawfully recognised traditional leaders and calls for respect of South Africa’s governance systems, cultural protocols, and community structures.
We further call upon all relevant authorities to address such matters with the seriousness they deserve, to prevent any erosion of the legal and cultural order that governs traditional leadership in our country.

Let it be unequivocally clear:
We do not condone, support, or legitimise any such actions.
Any attempt to misrepresent our position will be met with firm and decisive response.

*HRM Dr Tebogo Modjadji-Kekana – Championing Dignity: 100 000 Girls, Zero Period Poverty*

Hey there! Let me tell you about an inspiring effort led by HRM Dr Tebogo Modjadji-Kekana, a Founder and Chairman of the Rain Queen Modjadji Foundation who’s on a mission to smash period poverty across rural Africa by handing out sanitary pads to 100 000 girls.
*Why it matters*
Period poverty isn’t just a health hiccup – it’s a massive barrier to education and future opportunities. In South Africa alone, roughly 7 million women and girls can’t afford pads, and about 30 % of school‑going girls miss four to five days of class each month because of it . ¹ Globally, UNESCO estimates that 1 in 10 African girls skip school during their periods . ² When a girl stays home, she loses not only lessons but also confidence, health, and long‑term earning potential.
*Dr Modjadji’s bold plan*

- *Mass distribution* – 100 000 pads will reach remote schools and community hubs, mixing disposable and reusable options to see what works best locally.
- *Education & empowerment* – Workshops on menstrual health run with partners like the MENstruation Foundation will break stigma and teach girls about their bodies . ³
- *Local production* – By linking the drive to women‑led social enterprises (e.g., Lindiwe Sanitary Pads, which already supplied 10 000 girls ⁴), the project creates jobs and builds a sustainable supply chain right where it’s needed.
- *Data‑driven impact* – Simple tracking tools will measure attendance, health outcomes, and dropout rates, feeding the results back to donors and partners to prove the ROI of dignity.
*What we can expect*

Early pilots in similar programmes show a *30 % drop in absenteeism* when pads are reliably available . Fewer infections from improvised materials, higher self‑esteem, and a ripple of economic benefit as women employed in pad production earn steady income .
*How you can join*

Dr Modjadji invites corporates, philanthropists, and community leaders to get on board. Whether it’s funding a distribution round, sponsoring a workshop, or simply spreading the word, every contribution moves a girl from “missing school” to “making history.”

Let’s help Dr Modjadji turn this vision into reality—one pad, one classroom, one brighter future at a time. 🌟
