We brought a strong Bill Rowan medal home 🏅

Congratulations, Manchala, on completing your first Comrades Marathon. You made it look attainable. A Bill Rowan medal on your first attempt is truly inspiring.

Determination isn’t loud. For him, it’s been 2am alarms, long runs after work, and choosing discipline when no one was watching. That same discipline carried him through Comrades.

As per the initial challenge, the cause remains active. Our countdown to the Academic Excellence Awards is even more exciting now. The Bill Rowan achievement places us at the *R40 contribution tier.

To everyone who has donated to the cause so far — thank you.* Your support is already making a difference for over 130 learners in Thembisa, Soshanguve, and Mamelodi. We’re grateful for every contribution that gets us closer.

This finish reflects Manchala’s long-term commitment to the cause since founding the organisation at 19. It proves that it takes an entire community to mould a leader. It reminds us why we keep the gold shining, irrespective of background.

We believe in academic excellence, with no one left behind.

On 14 June, our founder Manchala Sithole will run the Comrades Marathon for the first time. And he’s running for a cause.

Manchala will run to inspire township learners to strive for academic excellence. Every kilometre he covers will go toward supporting our kids in Thembisa, Soshanguve, and Mamelodi.

KTG hosts the Academic Excellence Awards annually at Penelopele High School. This year we’ll welcome over 130 learners from the surrounding Thembisa communities. Manchala aims to raise funds for this event to recognise and inspire them through the awards.

Manchala is willing to take on any challenge. He’s committed to push for any medal category:
1. Comrades Silver - R50
2. Bill Rowan - R40
3. Robert Mtshali - R30
4. Bronze - R20
5. Vic Clapham - R10

Any donation is welcome. Manchala has already been challenged for the Silver medal.

Executive Spotlight ✨: Refilwe
One year in as KTG’s Executive Assistant, Refilwe keeps the CEO’s office running like clockwork 📧🗓️ handling email, scheduling, docs and follow ups with smooth precision. She’s here to build a culture of reliability and care 🤝, making sure everyone feels seen and supported. Outside KTG she’s a student 🎓, Executive Assistant at Own and Manage, Marketing Assistant at Infinite Vumisa Agro, and newly minted artist manager 🎤. One word for her? Steward 🌱.

While studying at the University of Pretoria, Tiisetso serves at Keep That Gold Shining — collecting and analysing impact data so the organisation’s work can be measured, strengthened and shared with the world.
