Week 3 of our CAREER COMPASS PROGRAMME was a masterclass in career versatility and smart decision-making! 🌟

Real estate professional Tshiamo Keith Maphobela joined us and brought an insightful, real-world perspective to the Grade 7 learners. He shared his journey from starting a business shortly after matric and navigating early entrepreneural challenges, to pursuing a Bcom Honours in Financial Management, and ultimately building a career in property asset management.

Mr Maphobela demostrated how a single qualification can open doors to an array of career paths and how continious learning drives long-term success. A big thank you to him for inspiring our learners to think big! 💡

Unlocking academic potential through clear sight with our Eyes On The Future Initiative 2026! 👓

Following our school-wide vision screenings for over 700 students, The Florence & Fabian Ribeiro Foundation and African Eye Institute Trust returned this week to hand over prescritpion glasses to 49 students and 6 staff members.

​The team conducted custom frame fittings, final vision checks and provided guidance on the care and maintenance of their new glasses.
Seeing the immediate transformation that clear vision brings is truly remarkable.

​A powerful reminder that when we eliminate visual barriers, we unlock academic potential.

EYES ON THE FUTURE PROGRAMME 2026

In partnership with the African Eye Institute Trust (an NGO dedicated to reducing avoidable vision impairment in underserved communities) we kicked off an impactful two-day screening initiative at F.F. Ribeiro Primary School in Mamelodi.

Too many children struggle in class, fall behind or lose confidence as a result of vision impairments that are often easily treatable. By intervening early, we can transform a child's educational journey and restore their confidence.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the African Eye Institute Trust team for their incredible work. Not only are they conducting these vital screenings for the entire primary school and grounds staff, but they will also be providing free prescription glasses to every child who needs them.

When we give a child the gift of clear sight, we give them a fair chance at a bright furture. 🌟

As we bid farewell to Rev. Jesse Jackson today, the Florence & Fabian Ribeiro Foundation pays tribute to his remarkable life and reflects on the impact he made not just in his own nation, but also in ours.

Our co-founder, Nonkululeko Applegreen, had the privilege of attending a memorial tribute dedicated to the late Rev. Jackson, hosted by Nelson Mandela Foundation.
Guests were given the opportunity to write messages in a book that will be presented to the Jackson family.

The Florence & Fabian Ribeiro Foundation is proud to commemorate the legacy of those who paved the way for us.

Small Act, Big Impact: You may not see the joy on a child’s face as they put on a warm jersey you donated, rest assured that your small gesture puts a big smile on their face. 🧥💖 This year’s drive was a great success, made possible by everyone who donated their gently used clothing, home textiles, and other items to SOS Children's Village in Mamelodi!

We cherish our partnership with SOS Children's Village, a home for abandoned and orphaned children, and we are eager to create an even greater impact on the lives of the vulnerable children living in the village.
