As we bid farewell to Rev. Jesse Jackson today, the Florence & Fabian Ribeiro Foundation pays tribute to his remarkable life and reflects on the impact he made not just in his own nation, but also in ours.

Our co-founder, Nonkululeko Applegreen, had the privilege of attending a memorial tribute dedicated to the late Rev. Jackson, hosted by Nelson Mandela Foundation.
Guests were given the opportunity to write messages in a book that will be presented to the Jackson family.

The Florence & Fabian Ribeiro Foundation is proud to commemorate the legacy of those who paved the way for us.

ANNUAL CLOTHING DRIVE 2026
Small Act, Big Impact: You may not see the joy on a child’s face as they put on a warm jersey you donated, rest assured that your small gesture puts a big smile on their face. 🧥💖 This year’s drive was a great success, made possible by everyone who donated their gently used clothing, home textiles, and other items to SOS Children's Village in Mamelodi!

We cherish our partnership with SOS Children's Village, a home for abandoned and orphaned children, and we are eager to create an even greater impact on the lives of the vulnerable children living in the village.

Dignity is not a privilege; it is a fundamental right. On this , the theme "Restoring Dignity Through Inclusion" resonates deeply with us.

The Florence & Fabian Ribeiro Foundation firmly believes that inclusion goes beyond mere presence, it's about empowering a person to live with respect and self-worth. This belief is encapsulated in our slogan: “Instilling a sense of self-worth.”

True dignity isn't just surviving, it's thriving!

We are dedicated to dismantling barriers and creating opportunities for marginalised individuals to live with dignity and pride.

EYES ON THE FUTURE INITIATIVE

On September 25th, the Florence & Fabian Ribeiro Foundation teamed up with Kids Vision SA, who screened 100 disadvantaged learners and provided free glasses to children with identified vision problems.

With an estimated 80% of learning being visual, the importance of vision correction for disadvantaged children cannot be overstated.

We thank Kids Vision SA for their generous contribution. Some of these learners have endured visual challenges for many years, and will now enjoy an improved quality of life and a greater opportunity for effective learning and development.

EYES ON THE FUTURE INITIATIVE!

A considerable number of children, particularly in underserved communities, have undiagnosed vision problems. This can greatly impact their development, learning, and overall well-being. If detected early, many of these problems can be effectively treated, resulting in a significant improvement in the child's quality of life.

The Florence & Fabian Ribeiro Foundation believes that every child has the right to a holistic education that encompasses all their need. As part of this mission, we have teamed up with Kids Vision SA to identify young learners with visual problems as early as possible.

On September 25th, Kids Vision SA will conduct free eye screenings for 100 disadvantaged learners in Grade R and Grade 1. They will also provide free eyeglasses to students with identified impairments, allowing them to thrive at school and fulfil their potential.
