What a wonderful project for our June/July holiday programme! πŸ”§πŸ›žβœ¨

We are hoping to create a large sensory and activity wall like this in our outdoor play area for the children at House of Kindness.

Little hands are naturally curious. They love turning, twisting, opening, closing, spinning, pushing, pulling, and figuring out how things work. Not only is this great fun, but it also helps develop fine motor skills, problem-solving abilities, concentration, and confidence.

The best part? Many of the items can be made from donated odds and ends that might otherwise end up in a toolbox, garage, or storeroom.

If you would like to be part of this project by donating materials, sponsoring supplies, helping us build it, or sharing creative ideas, please let us know. We would love to turn this into a special holiday project for our little explorers.

Who knows... we might just create the most interesting wall in Pretoria! ❀️

"OUR BEGINNINGS DO NOT DETERMINE OUR FUTURE "

🎬 FREE MOVIE DOWNLOAD – Born to Win

As we prepare for our upcoming Men of Impact Breakfast, we would like to share something special with our followers.

Born to Win, produced by our guest speaker Frans CronjΓ©, is now available to download free of charge.

The story resonates deeply with us at House of Kindness. Every child who enters our home arrives with their own story, challenges, and circumstances. Yet behind every child is untapped potential, courage waiting to be discovered, and a future still being written.

At House of Kindness, we have the privilege of walking alongside vulnerable children during a small chapter of their lives. Our hope is always that they will grow into strong, resilient, compassionate individuals who overcome their circumstances and become all they were meant to be.

That is why *Born to Win* speaks to us. It is a reminder that our beginnings do not determine our future.

If you have some time this week, download the movie, watch it with your family, and let us know what it meant to you.

One of our almost three-year-old little boys absolutely loves bubble baths. The more bubbles, the better!

The other evening he was sitting in the bath, completely fascinated by the mountain of fluffy white bubbles surrounding him. Suddenly, I noticed him eyeing the bubbles a little too carefully.

Before I could stop him, he scooped up a handful and tried to eat them.

"No, sweetheart," I laughed. "You can't eat bubbles!"

He looked disappointed for a moment. Then I watched his little mind working. A few seconds later, he folded his hands, bowed his head, and very seriously prayed over the bubbles.
"Dankie Jesus vir die kos en baie seeninge, in Jesus Naam, Amen.
The moment he finished, he couldn't say "Amen" fast enough before taking another giant bite!

Needless to say, the bubbles still didn't taste very good.

But it did leave me thinking... if only we could all have the faith of a child. The kind of faith that believes anything is possible, that approaches life with wonder, and that trusts completely.

Sometimes the greatest lessons come from the smallest teachers. ❀️

Although I still don't recommend eating bubbles... even after they've been blessed!

I have a feeling he is still convinced the problem wasn't the bubbles β€” it was just that he needed a longer prayer! πŸ˜‚πŸ«§πŸ™

Sleepovers are often seen as innocent fun, but research shows they can carry hidden dangers. Studies indicate that seventy percent of childhood abuse occurs during sleepovers, most often by someone the child knows, not strangers.

Children naturally trust familiar faces, which can make them more vulnerable during unsupervised nights. Even well-meaning families may underestimate the risks of leaving children in unfamiliar environments or with peers and adults who are not fully vetted.

Setting boundaries and saying no to certain sleepovers is not overprotection. It is proactive safety. Parents who communicate openly about risks help children understand boundaries without creating fear or shame.

Alternatives such as supervised gatherings, day visits, or structured activities provide opportunities for socialization without compromising safety. Teaching children about consent, awareness, and speaking up empowers them to protect themselves.

Being cautious does not diminish childhood experiences. Protecting children from avoidable risks ensures that fun and social growth do not come at the expense of long-term safety and emotional well-being. Thoughtful supervision can preserve joy while safeguarding health.
