POPUP (People Upliftment Programme)

POPUP (People Upliftment Programme) Operating in Gauteng, Free State and Western Cape, South Africa. There are 4 POPUP Centres in the Tshwane area - Moot, Raslouw, Soshanguve and Tshwane Central.

As an impact organisation, POPUP is committed to driving social change through skills training and development. We restore, equip and empower people to impact their world. POPUP (People Upliftment Programme) was established at the end of 1999, with a holistic approach to the upliftment of under-privileged communities. Since 2005 POPUP has operated a fully-fledged skills training and development c

entre to ensure independence, restoration and true upliftment of individuals through market-related, cost-effective training. What differentiates the POPUP skills training and development centre is that POPUP aims to ensure the fulfilment of the individual’s needs – mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. As an organisation, POPUP is in a position where we are giving hope to thousands of people as a result of our successful skills programmes. People are given opportunities to obtain skills which will enable them to find employment or start their own enterprise and rise from the terrible conditions caused by poverty and other circumstances such as crime and addiction. POPUP’s VISION
POPUP’s vision is to transform lives and uplift individuals to impact their world. We firmly believe that transformation takes place from a holistic point of view, impacting the heart, hand and mind of the individual in such a way as to transform them from the inside out, resulting in a changed individual who can positively impact their immediate surroundings; their households, extended families, communities and the country at large. POPUP’s TARGET MARKET
POPUP provides services to any person living in Tshwane and surrounding areas, regardless of race, culture, gender or religion. POPUP requires that potential learners should be between 18 and 45 years of age, unemployed, with no access to tertiary education. These individuals should be able to read, write and speak English, which is the primary language of tuition. The vast majority of POPUP’s learners connect with POPUP through word of mouth and arrive at POPUP searching for a better life and a future. Our aim is that after completing their journey with POPUP, they return to their communities as restored individuals, equipped to face life and its challenges, with a renewed hope and self-confidence. POPUP’s OFFERING
POPUP’s primary offering is skills development and training; in order to ensure holistic development, POPUP includes social support services and spiritual impartation and counselling.

An economy is only as resilient as its parts. Think of our youth as springs in a suspension system. If they are ‘stiff’ or broken, the whole system crumbles under the first shock.

We don’t need ‘charity’ for our youth; we need them to be the ‘springs’ that keep our economy afloat. Investing in their agency is a strategic imperative, not a donation.

“A victim does not affect his will on the world.” — Emile Raubenheimer.

Real growth doesn’t happen when things are easy; it happens when we learn how to handle the ‘hard’. At POPUP, we believe in restoring agency. We provide the technique; the learner provides the will.

Happy Women's Day. 🌸

Today we celebrate every woman and the unique way God has created her to bring hope, love, and life to the world. Our prayer is that you would know the peace of Christ, be strengthened in every season, and remember that your worth is found in Him, not in what you do, but in Whose you are.

At POPUP, we believe that significance is found when we look beyond ourselves to see the potential in others. Every life transformed and every skill shared adds a thread of dignity to the fabric of our nation. Mandela Day is a reminder that our purpose is linked to the well-being of those around us.

When we choose to support others, we don't just change their circumstances; we restore their hope in the future.
