Request Received:
Over the December holidays, I spent time at a care centre that looks after elderly residents, people in wheelchairs, and non-verbal autistic adults..
They are a registered NPO, but sadly receive no government funding.
What struck me most wasn’t just the lack of resources — it was how many residents receive little to no family visits. Some have simply been left there and forgotten.
I would love to volunteer my time there regularly and bring a bit of comfort, dignity, and human connection into their days.
I’m reaching out to our community to ask if anyone would like to contribute in a small, practical way. Nothing fancy — just items that help people feel clean, cared for, and seen.
Items that would be deeply appreciated:
Nail clippers & nail files
Nail polish (any colour)
Hand & foot lotions or gentle scrubs
Old towels (still usable)
A shallow dish/basin big enough for feet
A carpet or rug (one resident with cellulitis currently has a bare floor)
Old but wearable clothes or blankets
Fruit, vegetables, or any food items
Anyone willing to bake a cake or small treat once a month 💛
If you have something to spare — or would like to help in any way — it would truly make a difference.
