๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ Farewell to a Legend ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ
The JCFI Music Ensemble joins the global music community in bidding farewell to the great Abdullah Ibrahim, a visionary pianist, composer, and cultural icon whose music gave voice to the soul of South Africa and inspired generations across the world.
We are deeply grateful for the timeless legacy he leaves behind. His compositions continue to educate, inspire, and connect us to our history, identity, and humanity.
As a tribute, the JCFI Music Ensemble had the honour of performing his beautiful composition, The Wedding, celebrating the enduring power of his artistry and storytelling through music.
May his soul rest in eternal peace. Though he has departed, his music will continue to live on in our hearts, our classrooms, our stages, and in the hands of future generations of musicians.
๐ŸŽน Thank you, Abdullah Ibrahim, for the gift of your music.

JCFI Mamelodi has a strong track record of curating projects with precision and excellence. From arts workshops, festivals, archives, and heritage initiatives to art camps and more every project is delivered with intention and care.

Our work also extends into publication, with two significant books:
My Pen, an anthology of childrenโ€™s poetry, and Xhoxipende, an archive celebrating women who play indigenous musical instruments.

Through these initiatives, JCFI Mamelodi continues to preserve heritage, amplify voices, and create meaningful platforms in the arts.

These images reflect the excellence of JCFI Mamelodi. Since its inception, we have remained committed to reaching those for whom access to the arts once felt out of reach and we continue to do so.

Through art camps, workshops, festivals, and many other initiatives, we strive to create opportunities, inspire creativity, and empower communities.
