🏆🚀 FIELD DAY CHAMPIONS! 🚀🏆

What an incredible weekend for 5th Hillcrest-Colbyn Scout Group at the annual Field Day event in Cullinan over the weekend!

Our Troop rose to the challenge, showed incredible teamwork, determination and Scout spirit — and came home as FIELD DAY WINNERS! 🏆🥇

From the first challenge to the final whistle, our Scouts gave it their all. They supported one another, pushed through the tough moments and proved that when you work together as one Patrol, anything is possible! 💪⚜️

🌌 INTERGALACTIC FIELD DAY 2026 may be over, but this is a weekend our Scouts will remember for a long time!

A massive congratulations to our Scouts and a huge thank you to our dedicated Scouters, volunteers and everyone who supported the Troop along the way.

🚀✨ 5th Hillcrest-Colbyn Scouts at Field Day 2026! ✨🚀

This weekend, 14–16 August, our Scouts are heading to the SCOUTS SA Regional Field Day at the Ditsong Willem Prinsloo Museum! 🏕️🌌

With this year’s exciting 'Intergalactic' theme, our patrols are ready to blast off into a weekend filled with adventure, teamwork, creativity, outdoor skills, and plenty of cosmic fun. 🌠🛸👽

Field Day is always a highlight on the scouting calendar, bringing Scouts from across the region together to learn, compete, explore, and make unforgettable memories under the stars. ⭐

We wish all our 5th Hillcrest-Colbyn Scouts and Scouters safe travels and an amazing weekend as they boldly go where no patrol has gone before! 💫

🐺🔥 110 Years of Cub Scouting!🔥🐺

Tonight the 5th Hillcrest-Colbyn Cub Pack celebrated an incredible 110 years of Cubs with a special campfire shared by our Cubs, parents and Scouters. 🌟

Around the warmth of the fire we celebrated friendship, adventure, laughter and the spirit of doing our best — values that have shaped generations of Cubs since 1916. From songs and stories to smiles all around, it was a wonderful evening of fellowship and fun for the whole 5th family. 💛

Thank you to all the parents and leaders who joined us and helped make this milestone celebration so memorable. Here’s to 110 years of Cub Scouting and many more years of adventure, growth and unforgettable memories!

🌍💜 World Scout Scarf Day & Paint the Park Purple 💜🌍

Today our scarves were worn with pride as we celebrated World Scout Scarf Day 1st August — a reminder that no matter where we come from, Scouts across the world are connected by the values of friendship, service, adventure, and community.

What made the day even more special was 5th joined of the Tshwane Districts Scouts in Scouts South Africa's National 'Paint the Park Purple' initiative - Park Run at the Pretoria National Botanical Gardens, standing together in support of an important cause and showing the power of unity through colour, compassion, and community spirit.

A Scout scarf is more than just part of a uniform — it represents commitment, belonging, and the promise to make the world a better place. Seeing our scarves among a sea of purple was a beautiful reminder that small acts of support and solidarity can have a big impact.

Thank you to everyone who took part, wore their scarf proudly, and helped make today such a meaningful celebration.

🐾 Mandela Day at the SPCA 🐾

As part of our Mandela Day – making the world a better place, the Cub Packs of 5th Hillcrest-Colbyn, 10th and 17th Scout Groups joined together for a special visit to the SPCA. - 10th Arcadia Scout Group , 17th Villieria Scout Group ⚜️.

Our Cubs donated pet food and blankets to help care for animals in need and spent time learning about the important work the SPCA does in protecting and caring for our furry friends. They also learned valuable lessons about kindness, responsibility and how to take good care of pets.

A huge thank you to all the Cubs, parents and Scouters who contributed to this meaningful joint event. By working together and showing compassion, our young people truly lived out the spirit of Nelson Mandela Day – making a difference, one small act of kindness at a time.

Making a Difference Through Service.

At 5th Hillcrest-Colbyn, we believe that service is one of the greatest ways to make a lasting impact, and Danica has truly embraced this through her Springbok Scout community service project.

During Mandela Month, Danica dedicated her time to Rock of Hope in Magalieskruin, where she spent several days sorting and organising donations to help support vulnerable individuals and families. Her efforts behind the scenes have helped ensure that much-needed items reach those who need them most.

But her project doesn't end there. As part of her ongoing initiative, Danica is also collecting 100 nappies to donate to Rock of Hope, providing practical support for babies and families in their care. This forms part of her continued commitment to making a meaningful difference in her community.

We are incredibly proud of your compassion, dedication, and servant leadership, Danica. Thank you for living the Scout Promise and showing that even the smallest acts of kindness can have a big impact.

If anyone would like to support Danica's project by contributing nappies, please reach out and we shall direct your essential contribution towards this worthy cause.

🇿🇦 Mandela Day 2026 💚

"It is in your hands to create a better world for all who live in it."– Nelson Mandela

For Mandela Day, Scouts, Cubs, leaders and volunteers rolled up their sleeves and spent their 67 minutes (and a little more!) giving back to our community by cleaning up the Colbyn Wetland.

Every bag of litter collected is a step towards protecting our local environment, preserving wildlife habitats, and creating a cleaner, safer space for everyone to enjoy. Service is at the heart of Scouting, and today was a wonderful reminder that even small acts, when done together, can make a lasting difference.

A huge thank you to everyone who gave their time, energy and enthusiasm to make a positive impact. We are proud of every Scout and Cub who lived the Scout Promise through action.

Together, we can leave our world a little better than we found it.
