Golden Youth Club

Golden Youth Club GYC is constantly exploring new creative ways of bringing out the true essence of education in schools and also in communities.

We always focuses on dance, music, theatre, poetry and we address issues that affect our young people on their daily lives. The Golden Youth Club project was founded by Nomatlou Johannah Mahlangu in 2001 as a non-profit organization in the garage of her parents in the semi-rural area of Winterveld. GYC is a young dynamic project with a passionate vision to make performing arts more accessible to

audiences in South Africa and across the world. GYC is composed of two groups (teenagers and young adults). The teenagers deal with performing arts while the young adults are Peer-Leaders dealing with research projects such as the current one, Climate Change and they train the teenagers into becoming great Peer-leaders. GYC has grown now operating in two provinces Gauteng and North West. These project constantly exploring new creative ways of bringing out the true essence of education. It has evolved its own distinct style of presentation by fusing ethnic and modern genres of dancing and theatre play. Its musical compositions are confluence of educational messages in South Africa and across the world. Each dance composition is carefully crafted with intricate detailing in synchronization, choreography pattern, thematic costumes and suitable light & stage effects. Members of Golden youth club have diverse poetry, gumboots Dance, theatre and musical background which they spread health messages in a familiar context (Climate Change, HIV/Aids, substance abuse, teenage pregnancy, and etc. Golden youth club is also deeply aware of its social responsibility. Peer Leader International is an International volunteerism project that is having exchanging program with Peer Leader SA and coordinated by dynamic youth who completed school who want to make the difference in their communities. We are focusing not only our rights but also responsibilities. The Peer Leaders have grown in the organization, since they were in their teen years; they're now out of school, in tertiary and mentoring the next teen Peer-leader groups. Research projects need time therefore teen Peer-leaders would struggle to participate on it fully. The teens only get involved on the implementation of the projects. Peer-leaders interact with all age groups especially the youth. The leaner’s in schools both primary and high schools are enjoying being with Peer Leaders as they provide motivation and are trained to be mentors to the teens. They're vibrant and jovial and understand exactly the difference between fun and serious work. Our Peer Leaders and Performers got involved in an International Conference, summits, and events. 🌍 Cultural & Environmental Exchange Visit | Golden Youth Club – Winterveldt 🌱🇿🇦🇩🇪

We were honoured to welcome students from the Deutsche Internationale Schule Johannesburg (DSJ) and the Kooperative Gesamtschule in Moringen, Germany, as part of their Student Exchange Programme. 🤝

Their visit to the Golden Youth Club focused on our gardening and permaculture project, where young people are learning to grow food sustainably, protect the environment, and promote healthy living in the township. 🌿💧

Together, we shared skills, stories, and laughter — proving that gardening is more than planting seeds; it’s about cultivating unity, knowledge, and hope. This exchange also strengthened the bond between South African and German youth through culture, language, and teamwork. ❤️🌍

A huge thank you to our guests, mentors, and community members for making this day inspiring and impactful!
