For the uninitiated, Akhona Kom is a South African entrepreneur, model, and digital storyteller who has spent over two decades documenting and elevating natural hair culture. As the founder and CEO of Loc Nation Africa, she made the executive decision to build something massive: a dedicated digital platform, educational archive, and cultural hub that celebrates, uplifts, and provides specialized care resources for the natural loc community across South Africa.

Moving from local Instagram modeling into mainstream beauty advocacy, Akhona's cultural impact has been highlighted by prominent lifestyle media platforms like Previdar. She is moving past the corporate rhetoric and actively building the ecosystem that challenges natural hair stereotypes, partnering with photographers, local creators, and modern lifestyle brands to champion authentic African aesthetic pride. ✨Seeing the room filled with so many ambitious young professionals, varsity students, and future leaders was incredibly moving. 🎒

💖A massive thank you to our incredible team of who poured their hearts into making this day seamless, and to every single woman who showed up for herself and her community.

We spent the day at Immaculata Shelter, and the experience was nothing short of transformative. Beyond the warmth of the blankets, we were able to deliver:

Professional Wear: Ensuring the ladies are interview-ready and confident as they step into new opportunities.

Self-Care Essentials: High-quality body care to provide a moment of peace and dignity.

Footwear & Books: Practical support for the path ahead and food for the mind.

Clothing and Covering: Warm clothes,and clothes for children for those with children outside the adult shelter.

Getting a full tour of the residence and hearing the stories firsthand has fueled us even more. We have so much in store for this partnership and can’t wait to share the new features we’re working on.
