Today we officially launch our newest project, proudly in collaboration with Mrs Supranational Finalist .horring.

The Teddy Bear Project is Bianca's pageant charity project - collecting new Teddies to be distributed to CTICU patient in April.

Bianca is no stranger to CHD. Leah, one of her twin girls were born with 4 different defects and were operated on at 4 months old, becoming a graduate of Sunninghill CTICU. Today she is a beautiful 5 year old! However, this little girl has a superhero sister, Mila, being her fiercest supporter in the good times and the gentlest nurse in bad! Bianca is 100% committed to the cause, because she has been living this life for 6 years.

*** MY ADVOCACY AS A Mrs Supranational South Africa FINALIST! ***

I'd like to bring awareness to children born with Congenital Heart Defects, in short (CHD).
It is the most common birth defect in babies.

In SA 10,000 babies are born with this each year, but only 700 receive the life-changing operation to make it to adulthood!

My daughter was born with this defect and had open-heart surgery at 5 months old.
She had 3 holes in her heart and a leaking valve.
The holes could be fixed, but not the leaking valve. This valve regulates blood flow to your heart and lungs.

She has to go for regular check-ups, and she’ll be taking chronic medication for the rest of her life.
Her heart health can change at any moment, so this is a lifelong challenge.

I’m hoping that my support as a heart warrior mom, will show other moms out there that they are not alone.

I want to show my daughter that scars don't define us.
It's a medal engraved on her chest!

CHD Awareness!

We celebrate World Down Syndrome day on 21 March 2025. Congenital heart defects occur in approximately 50% of live-born infants with Down syndrome. We honour each of our heart warriors with Down Syndrome.

Little Hearts Initiative is an online support group which rejoices in the happy times and share obstacles of families who are navigating heart difficulties, or who lost the fight 💙💛
