🚨 FRAUD FEBRUARY ALERT 🚨

Neighbours and friends in Garsfontein,

Do NOT click on links you do not recognise or were not expecting!
Scammers are flooding our phones, WhatsApp, SMS, and emails with fake messages that look urgent or tempting:

⛔️"Your account is suspended – click here to fix"
⛔️"Claim your prize / refund / delivery update – tap this link"
⛔️"SAPS / bank / government alert – verify now via this link"
⛔️Links in messages from "family" or "friends" that seem off

One click can steal your banking details, infect your phone with malware, or give criminals access to your personal info and savings.

If you get a suspicious link:

⚠️STOP – don't click!
⚠️Delete the message or block the sender.
⚠️Verify directly: Call your bank on their official number, or contact SAPS yourself.

🚨 Fraud February 🚨

The South African Police Service (SAPS) NEVER asks for or accepts any money from the public to investigate crimes, open a case, recover stolen property, or resolve an open docket. All legitimate SAPS services are FREE — no bribes, no "donations", no fees required!

Scammers often:

‼️Claim they are from SAPS Garsfontein or a special unit
‼️Say your case needs "urgent payment" to proceed
‼️Use pressure tactics like threats of arrest or case closure
‼️Ask for payments via EFT, cash send, airtime, or e-wallets

Do NOT pay anything. Do NOT share personal or banking details.
If you receive such a call/message:

‼️Hang up immediately
‼️Do NOT engage or send money
‼️Verify directly by visiting SAPS Garsfontein station or calling the official station number (do NOT use numbers provided by the caller)
‼️Report the scam attempt to SAPS (open a case of fraud/impersonation) or call Crime Stop: 08600 10111
