From Ouma and Oupa to little Jackson, the love for dogs runs in the family! ❤️

Last weekend was all about family time, good company and a little rest. Even Oupa Stoney and Ouma Sam got to enjoy some quality time with our youngest supporter!

But the cycling shoes are back on!

Riaan and Alex are heading to Kromdraai for some serious training in the heat. These two are even taking on the Cape Town Cycle Tour, just two days after our 1,000+ km ride from Bloemfontein to Cape Town!

Clearly, their idea of resting is a little different from ours! 😂

And a special shout-out to everyone in Oudtshoorn battling the heat!

As temperatures rise, please remember your pets. Keep fresh water available, provide plenty of shade and avoid walks on hot pavements.

Happy cycling, and keep those furry friends cool! 🐾

🚨 URGENT: SPCA VEHICLE HIJACKED, PLEASE SHARE 🚨

Earlier today our Isuzu Fleetside single cab, registration NZ 16 NM GP, was hijacked. We believe it is somewhere between Germiston and Soweto.

The vehicle has SPCA branding on both doors. This may have been removed, but the outline of the signage could still be visible on the paintwork.

Our driver, Junior, was on his way to the vet when a man approached the passenger window, pretending to ask about the SPCA. When Junior opened the window, the man unlocked the door, jumped in and held a fi***rm to his head. Junior was forced out, pushed into another vehicle and later dropped off in Soweto. He made his way to a police station, badly shaken. For several hours, our team had no way of reaching him.

Two dogs were in the back of the vehicle and were taken with it:
🐕 Cross Labrador-type, black and brown, male
🐕 Border Collie-type, white, male
We are desperately worried about them. 💔😩

That someone could do this to an SPCA employee and to two defenceless animals is so, so hard to comprehend.

We are working with SAPS and the search is ongoing. If you see the dogs or this vehicle, please note the location and time, and contact the SPCA on 011 825 5033.

What happens when a rescue has no space left?

Right now, every kennel at Pretoria Dog Rescue is full.

That's a lot of dogs waiting for someone to give them a loving home. 💔

And while they wait, more dogs are out there needing help.

With no space available, Pretoria Dog Rescue simply cannot take in every dog that needs saving.

We desperately need more dogs to find homes.

If you've been thinking about adopting, please consider giving a rescue dog a chance.

Every adoption opens a kennel for another dog in need.
