Are you curious to know why most Industry Code of Conduct ONLY applies to specific stakeholder groupings or members?

Did you know that our industry's Code of Conduct does not automatically apply to every v**e shop on the corner? While VPASA has been leading the way for proactive self-regulation, these ethics are entirely voluntary, meaning they apply only to VPASA members. This means there are still many businesses that operate completely outside this framework. Choosing a self-regulated brand means choosing verified product that complies to some form of industry standards, but it’s up to the community to know who is in and who is out!

Watch the clip to understand why it's unfair to hold VPASA accountable for the whole va**ng industry. Hit play and share this clip!

Industry self regulations - protecting consumers and creating a secure, responsible marketplace.

True consumer protection can’t always wait for the formal legislative process to catch up. Proactive self-regulation is key to safeguard the South African adult smokers looking for non-combustible solutions with less harm.

Instead of waiting for future laws, the industry continues to implement strict safety standards and robust age verification to close immediate gaps. This is not about replacing legislation; it's about creating a secure, responsible marketplace today for a better tomorrow.

Would you trust a business that self-regulates or operates in the gray? Watch, then drop your perspective in the comments!

What does practical industry accountability look like?

Industry self-regulation is when businesses choose to hold themselves accountable by adhering to strict ethical codes and safety standards rather than waiting for the government to enact laws for them. Since formal va**ng regulations are still pending in South Africa, self-regulation matters more now than ever! By adopting practical measures such as strict age verification as part of our code of conduct, are one of the many practical measures for the industry to continue building trust and demonstrates its responsibility.

Today, we shine the light on World No To***co Day!

Let's cut through the noise and reflect on the challenging realities facing South Africa's regulatory vacuum today in pursuit of reduced smoke rates, while misinformation continues to fill the science gaps. This stage of the regulation process matters to every person who believes in harm reduction and that adult smokers have a right to make informed choices.

Real change happens when we support each other with facts, not judgment!

You deserve to live in a world where product marketing is honest and boundaries are respected!

The core principle of the ARB Va**ng Code is that responsible marketing should be aimed at existing adult smokers who are looking for a potentially less harmful alternative, rather than trying to recruit new, non-smoking users, particularly teenagers!

Do you agree that digital platforms should be effectively used to block minors from seeing nicotine-related content instead of enticing them? React with a ❤️ or hit like if you do.

Do you think of the VPASA as a responsible industry advertising watchdog? You should and here’s why:

We collaborated with the Advertising Regulatory Board of South Africa to create an industry Advertising Code that fills the current critical legislative vacuum. We value that as an adult consumer, you deserve honest marketing, accurate advertising, and most importantly, a complete shield that prevents minors from ever being targeted on social media.
